Here are a few suggestions:

1. Overhaul the alchemy screen - THINK EFFICIENCY !

- be able to brew multiple potions with my choice of ingredients without resetting to default. It's VERY frustrating when the ingredients keep resetting to default selection after a single brewing. This is one of my biggest complaints about this otherwise awesome game.

- show how many of each ingredient remain, on the alchemy wheel itself

- show how many of each potion I have - currently I have to exit meditation, go to Inventory and remember how many of what I need to make

2. When viewing Formulas / Diagrams in Inventory, it takes FOREVER for the scrolling info to show me the required ingredients! Very annoying. Cant you just display all the info on the screen?

3. Items currently in the pocket slots in Inventory do not show remaining count. What's up with that? I have to move each bomb or trap back to the main inventory screen to see how many I have. In--efficient !

4. We need to be able to SORT the items in the inventory by Weight, Vaule, Name, etc...

5. Ability to drink potions on the go - why should Geralt have to meditate just to drink a stupid potion ??? What's the point of a health restorative potion if I cant drink it during battle? The fun in drinking potions in any RPG is hitting a single button or mouse click and it's done. Think DIABLO...

6. Add a "Junk" menu. Some "junk" items take alot of space (weight), and the only place to find them and remove them is in the "all items" menu in inventory. That means spending a long time looking for a needle in a haystack. Just make a separate menu for junk.

Especially that point about potions, there are just way to many points where you can't meditate (ie. the game will not let you) to drink potions or they wear off during cut scenes.

I agree with you, however there is already a fantastic mod to fix problem 2 and a potion time extention mod that may go some way to aleviating number 5.
1. A mouse optimized UI option would be a good idea. If not possible, it would be good to switch between inventory, journal, character, map etc without esc back to game.
2. Geralt should be able to walk backwards or sidestep instead of turning around.
3. An option to remove auto aiming. This is great for game pad but not necessary for KB+M.

I have this exact same problem... Whenever I want to see hom much of a certain item I have, I have to place it back in my inventory... It's reeeeeaaally annoying, especially when brewing potions. This was an oversight by CDP. But I believe they will correct it, because above all other developers, they show real interest in satisfying our needs.

Take the first game for example. They practically remade the game to address our issues, so I bet they'll refine The Witcher 2 with time... You just have to be patient :-)

But in the mean time, I'm still being able to have great fun with the game, it's really some work of love by the developers. They don't have the budget of a major studio, and still they made a game that put a lot of big leaguers to shame.
Add BETTER Tutorial hints and explanation for how the game and combat works.
Add a difficulty that's somewhere b/t Easy and Normal.

We need places to store stuff, since there's so much in the game-world.
Add a "Junk" Category for moving any item to for quick-selling and quick-storing like Dragon Age 2.

Allow graphics settings, control settings to be changes in the in-game menus.
Allow save deletion while in the in-game Save and Loading Game menus.

Allow EVERY key on the keyboard to be remapped to...
Numpad, Delete Key, and many of the right part of KB [bracket keys, period, semi-colon, slash, etc] cannot be mapped to - let's change this.
My suggestion is to eradicate any semblance of console oriented play. No QTE's, they are just plain retarded and belong only in stupid console games; we need a revamped inventory, and better mouse support. Nearly everything wrong with this game reeks of low-brow console influence. PC games and console games should be like oil and water. I thought the devs knew better.
Dynamic character development/adaptation.

This might be a bit too advanced, but here goes.

After my first playthrough, you know who the good guys and bad guys are & playing it a second time you're not as open to any new character emotional/interactive experiences as you know who's against you.

I do have other stuff that I'd like to put forward, but I'm really really tired, because I didn't get enough sleep because I was playing TW2 till late/early morning last night, again.
Add mouse wheel support, allow character, inventory and map keys etc to be changed, 16:10 support (yes, I know it's supposedly coming), and most importantly, a quick load (just like the manual says) and not having to exit the game just to change settings.

From where do I know you?! Are you playing BFBC2?

About the topic: Lets hope that in the next patch they will focus on those stuff ^^
Although I agree with most of the points, I wouldn't be a fan of number 5.
I know meditating and preparing before a fight is unusual in games nowadays, but apart from being part of the whole "witcher" theme/backstory, i think it's a refreshing change.
I really don't need another Diablo etc. game, where I'm kinda immortal, because I can just drink on the fly 32407 healthpotions whenever the situation arises. At least for me it would kill a lot of the fun and atmosphere of the game.

Not to mention the areas in the game aren't that massive, that you should run out of drinks/oils time before reaching your goals. If I know I run in a ruin full of haunting ghosts I put on the spector oil, if I know I want to go hunting an arachanid I have the oil ready and so on. There was rarely a situation in the game, where suddenly right before you a group of enemies fell from the sky and you had no chance and no clue that you could find them there.

But the game certainly should make it clearer before bossfights, that you should prepare instead of starting cutscenes half a mile away, that de facto make it impossible to drink them beforehand.

Hi there! :)
I got no clue where you know me from, even if you even do.

I do post a lot on other forums - i.e. PC Gamer, for one.
Maybe from there?

I haven't played Bad Company 2 in quite some time, actually.

I like your other suggestions, but this one is no good. People thinking this is hack and slash like Diablo is the reason most people find the game overly difficult.

A good compromise I would say is being able to consume potions from the item menu when ever you are in a "safe" area (any area you can save in).
