Hi. yesterday I passed on windows 8 (64bit version). I installed(from my boxed premium edition copy) and patcherd the game at l 3.2.1 patch as request from installer. but the game don't start. Witcher2.exe say :" impossible start correctly the application (0xc00007b). just click on ok to close the application" .....




So, i no have idea of solve the problem... i need help. ^ ^

Could be a not installed or non working installation of the VC redistributable packages
Anyway you will need to uninstall Visual C++ 2005, 2008 and 2010 from your computer.

Then reinstall from the links. If your system is 32 bit then install the 32 bit versions only

If your system is 64 bit then either 32 bit or 64 bit will work or you can install both versions.

The game runs fine here, using Windows 8. And it most certainly does not need VC++ 2005, or the 64-bit version of VC++ 2008.

No idea what the solution might be, but...

I have VC++ 2008 (32bit), and 32bit and 64bit of VC++ 2010 installed. I also installed .NET 3.5 through Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> Turn Windows features on or off.

Try getting these 4 installed, although I think a corrupted installation of VC++ 2010 might be the problem.

Ok found the problem. The autopatcher of game ask me to install after last patch a Chinese (!!!) update. I said yes at this update without realizing maybe.


Now i have updated the game at last european patch and work. Well this is strange. Why autopatch ask me Chinese update i don't know, but the problem was that. Just click no when autopatch ask to install this strange update.

That Chinese update is normal. There were issues with the Chinese translation, so they worked on it and provided the patch for everyone. It shouldn't cause any problems, and I can't think of any reason why it would. In fact, it's more likely that you uninstalled and reinstalled, fixing the problem that way, and have drawn an inaccurate parallel between the update and the game failing to work because it's the only thing you did differently.

Sometimes reinstalling is all it takes to fix a problem, though.

Upgrade to Windows 7, that'll fix all your problems.
