I would like to play Witcher 2 on Linux. However, in order to do that, I have to download one file which has 19GB. This makes it rather difficult, because if you are downloading file that big, there is a risk that the download may fail. On Windows, the game is separated into 1,5 GB files. Could you, dear GOG, do the same for the Linux version, please? I am not sure if one tar.gz can be divided in more smaller archives, but I believe that could be done if you use rar archive instead of tar.gz.

I would also like to support this idea. I've tried about three times to download the file without success. I have submitted a support ticket for it as well.

I thought it was unusual, but it came down safely.

I also tried 3 times to download the game on Linux but nothing to do... It always fails at extraction so I can not get the game because of its size. What to do ?

@fista : rar ? Are you idiot ? Why do you want to use proprietary compression format ? If tar can not be divided, just use zip, not rar !

You could always try LGOGDownloader - GOGDownloader for Linux if you are so inclined.

Hello, I recently wanting Download "The Witcher 2", I noticed that I could not use the GOG Downloader on my Ubuntu 14, I tried to download with firefox but the process failed .... I searched the forums and topics, were somewhat older and some dead links .... So searching the net I found a temporary solution while (and if) gog provides access to the downloader in Ubuntu / Mint.

It is a Firefox extension called "Down them all" google it(gog don't let me post links for some reason)

The downloads can be paused and restarted as needed, from the Firefox Tools menu.
When you click a link to download in our case any huge game here at gog, you only need to use the DownThemAll option and you are done.

Even wget, curl, aria2, basically any regular linux downloader you can imagine supports continuing a failed download. Most will retry a few times on their own before giving up too.
