For those of you who are looking forward to the Witcher books being translated into english will have to wait even longer now. The next book in the Saga "Times of Contempt", has been pushed back to May, 1 2013. I'm starting to loose hope here. Starting to doubt we'll ever see the rest of them. I simply don't understand this.

That stinks...but if I were you I would at least be hoping that the delay is due to the selection of a new translator. I read The Last Wish in English and the translation was passable, but felt very awkward in some of the word choice/sentence structure.

Unfortunately...the way it looks now, maybe you should just spend the two years learning to read in a language in which the books have already been translated! I am fortunate enough to have learned to read at near-native proficiency in Spanish, so I was able to read through the whole series. Hang in there, it is WELL worth the wait.

If going for that, why wouldn't you just learn Polish and read all the original books? :)

I think it's pretty safe to say it's as good as never coming out. Two years is more than enough time to get a strong enough grasp of Polish or another of the languages the saga has been translated into. It seems like the publisher gives the saga little more attention than the annual pushing back of the 'release date'. I wouldn't wait for them to get it together.

The publisher is not pushing back the date. They never gave one to begin with. Amazon has made up dates for other Books/items just so they can offer pre-orders before.

There is no mention about anymore Witcher books coming out from the publisher on their website. i have sent them several emails asking about it and have gotten no responses. I think its safe to assume they are not going to release it.

if I can find digital copies of the books in polish I bet I can use a net translator! something like google translator!

if they aren't going to do anything with the publishing rights, then why don't they sell them to someone else who will? D:

I already read all 7 books twice (in Czech) but learning Spanish does not sound bad. Spanish is quite widely used language so it would be useful, and from what I heard the spanish translation it supposed to be very good.
I mean, Polish (like Czech) is nice and all, but learning language used in only one country...does not seem like a usefully spent time to me.

How difficult for fans of Sapkovsky to organize a forum and made translation themselves?

I read somewhere that when a translation gets pushed back it is often cause the author wasn't happy with it. Releasing the novel at the same time as the game gets released is an excellent marketing move, one has to wonder why they didn't go for it.

Besides Polish, which other languages have all the books been translated into?

In French, Czech and Spanish for sure. I'd suspect at least partially in Italian (saw one in an italian bookshop last year), and Russian.
