weemanply109: Contrary to the bias against Steam here, a lot of people like to have their games on Steam. DRM-free is great and all, but Steam is probably the only tolerable client/account-based DRM (and it's DRM is very lightweight). I wouldn't mind having a copy on both platforms, just for backup sakes. :)
This. I like and have games on both platforms, but I still feel the need to feel that I own a copy, especially when it concerns my favourite titles. Witcher 2 transferred to GoG but Witcher didn't. Odd. Had to go through the reclaim process to CDPR. Ouch!

Recap. Witcher transferred too after receiving new code. Top. Bought Witcher 3, because.

Have anybody succeeded redeeming the The Witcher: Enhanced Edition Director's Cut from steam as Witcher 1?

GOG gives me the "Invalid code" error when I enter the CD Key from Steam.

PS: Witcher 2 redeemed just fine, though.

Witcher 1 worked for me, but I used the steam code somewhere in 2012.
Then I read something about a deadline on september 2012, but it looks like, that the witcher 2 keys are still working after september 2012?

On steam? I'm still undecided where I should buy Witcher 3.
It started all on Steam, but CD Projekt should get reward for they great support for the fans.
I don't know, maybe I will end up with buying on gog.com.

I bought Witcher 2 through gog, and will get the 3rd through them as well.

Don't remember when I did it, but Witcher 1 transferred fine for me.

If the OP is still out there I just wanted to say thank you for your excellent how to post.
I use plan A and it worked great.
A) [this functionality may not have been provided by Steam for this game]
1. Go to your Steam Games Library
2. Click on The Witcher 2
3. Click on CD Key under LINKS to the right
4. Copy your cd-key from the popup window
5. Enter your cd-key here: http://www.gog.com/en/witcher2/backup/

Thank you so much for these directions. I have my W1 EE on Steam and was able to successfully use its key to activate a GOG version of it in my account. Thank you and Thank you GOG!

When I copy and pasted my key, GOG's prompt showed an expiration date of September 2015. Not sure if it was always that way or if they updated the time frame a key could be used because of W3's coming release?

That joke... Why do people come on GOG if they cry to have their Steam key ? Just go and buy your game on Steam if you want to play it on Steam

I buyed a new card not a game but the game version in a promo bundle is gog not a steam (which is not my choice) and as much as I like gog for their free drm policy, I also like to have all my games in one place which is steam, that is the reason for my question so your answer is at least to say stupid.

If you platform is Steam, buy your games on Steam and let GOG be fully DRM Free without to have to give Steam keys to users. Soon, GOG will have GOG Galaxy, do you think they want to see their gamers buy on GOG and go on Steam ?

Excuse me but if Steam was not SO BAD about DRM, GOG won't even exist so NO, it's everything BUT stupid and I repeat, GOG is not Humble Bundle, Desura or anything else, it won't give Steam key to their users because it is not the goal of GOG.

So please, once again, stop to cry for your Steam keys. If you love so much Steam, just buy on it. If you want DRM Free, buy on GOG. That's all

I've been a Steam user for ten years and GOG about five. I like both and I particularly love what GOG does even over steam. However I will continue to use and by from both.

He wasn't crying about keys. He politely asked a question and was met with an unnecessarily rude reaction by you. Don't be so discourteous to folks. Let him speak, let the question be answered, and move on.

i buy games on gog because i like the mission behind the platforms existence and i want to support it.
i want to be able to activate games on steam for achievements and other social aspect of it.

we spend money on both services for various reasons. just because you cant fathom a use case scenario other than your own, please dont "cry" telling us what to do, or what to desire and request. thank you.
