just to clarify. Beeing a producer doesn't necessarily mean he is the writer, director or even somehow involved in any creative process. Anyway good luck for his future plans and career.
what exactly does a producer do anyway? someone explain.
In Polish (being my first language) Tomasz is a "serious" version of a first name... best translated to Thomas.
Use of Tomek (arguably easier to spell and pronounce by non Polish crowd) is best tranlated to Tom or Tommy... it is a way in which you would address a friend.
So yes, it is the same first name...

boozee: what exactly does a producer do anyway? someone explain.
A producer handles a wide range of things. Coordination between lead designers, publishing, having a voice on the creative process and alot of other stuff.

Altho not all producers have that much involvement, and who knows what he did. One things for certain, he did alot of alot of international PR.

You know you could just look it up yourself but your tone seems to dismiss Mister Gop, i also doubt you will appreciate my effort.

A game producer oversees and delivers a game project to all relevant parties while preserving the integrity, voice and vision of the game. They will also often take on some financial risk by using their own money, especially during the pre-production period, before a game is fully financed.

In other words, if Mr Gop was not there The Witcher 2 might not be here.
I liked him, i thought what he was trying to convey, a good valued product, was true and it was proved when i recieved and played it. I wish there were more developers like him, i wish him all the best in his next venture. :)
Tomasz Gop was one of the KEY person fro me in CDPR. His talents and passion in delivering TW2 is OUTSTANDING!

It's really a sad day to hear Gopz leaving. Miss him on his monk robe and guitar playing Saviours of Queens.

Hope he have a good rest and may soon join CDPR again!

Will surely miss him alot and CDPR will be much dull without Gop :(

EDIT
Also if no one notice, Geralt looks EXACTLY like Gop!. Try the Haircut and one of the haircuts with trimmed sides looks MUCH more like Gop.

Miss you Geralt.. err Gop

Hmm. Troubling news indeed. CDPR seems to be in a troubled state right now. With the lead producer leaving and all the forums issues...... Well, let's just hope for the best.

I honestly think you are being an alarmist...

Forums will always have complains because people love to hear the sound of their voice (or rather read their posts and be the centre of attention). I honestly see no difference here when compared to many other forums I have frequented in the past.

As for Tomasz leaving, I am sure he had his reasons... the history of video game industry is filled with people leaving and moving on (how do you think Obsidian was created?) For right or wrong reasons and we do not know what they are in this particular case.

Anyway, time will tell and I for one am not prepared to add to speculations... the Witcher line of products is an outstanding franchise and I would rather look into how I can support CDPR rather than speculate on what might be going on...

is he the only producer? he can't be the only one right? I know he did alot of pr. what does pr guys have to do with the game design? when the lead design leaves, then I would get worry. when a pr guy leaves, I don't worry as much. I just wish him good luck.

@post 35 I honestly wouldn't know where to look for that info. but hey, i guess everyone is a snub in your world. basically he gets the credit for ensuring all version of the game are of the same quality. I am not dismissing him but I don't worship him on a pedestal like you are though.

If Gop left CDPR due to mistreatment from management, most likely all of CDPR staffs will suffers the same fate. Now tell me if this is true, this will not affect future support and quality of new titles from CDPR?

Sure you would care less if you don't really care about the Witcher series. I'm no fanboy but CDPR proves themselves one hell of an awesome developers that has me surprised.

I care the state of their company as i'm looking forward for MORE quality upcoming PC titles be it Witcher or not from them.
Please quote official post(s) otherwise this is nothing more that rumours and speculations.
Please guys let's not be alarmists until we know for sure why did he left.

where did you get the mistreatment from? WHERE! all it says is he left for personal reasons. how the hell you twist that into mistreatment is beyond me. on a calmer note, go drink a cold beer and relax bro. lets wait till the expansion or w3's gameplay video preview before you get all worry.
Maybe he could not stomache the changes to TW2 any more than i can.

On one of the Polish gaming sites there is a huge discussion under the news of Tomasz Gop leaving CDPR. People were speculating that he didn't left but that he "was left" by the company. In the comments section Tomasz Gop himself clarified : "Nobody "left me" just in case you ask. I am leaving for private reasons (not personal (meaning conflicts within CDPR) nor financial). Thanks to all that think I didn't screw up the job. To those who didn't like me: thanks for not trying to"

So yeah, hopefully no conflicts there (fingers crossed).
