I am stuck at a quest in Chapter 2 called "Lost Lambs". As far as I know, I have completed all quests up to The Eternal Battle, explored every cave, beach and hole in the ground, but can't find the poor souls.

They are not near the "Little Sisters" cottage (although there is a dead soldier's body there), not in "Odrin's Cave" under the fort (although there, too, are a few dead soldiers to be found there). The Visionary doesn't know anything about them, nor the Arachas, the Troll, the two Gollems, the Bullvore, the Harpies or the Mercenary and his men.

I don't want to fail this quest, but as soon as I walk into the green mist to join the battle, it fails.

I am at a loss here... where can I find these men?

Have you tried, as the quest suggest, looking at a certain time of day?

The quest does not mention a certain time of day:

As the witcher wandered the Kaedweni camp, he was approached by Zyvik, whom he already met earlier. The man, visibly concerned, asked Geralt to find some soldiers who had gone missing somewhere beyond the palisade. The soldier offered a reward for completing this task, so refusing him would have been sinful. The witcher promised to keep an eye out for the missing grunts during his excursions in the area.

My bad, I mixed up the quest names. All I can say is....instead of entering the ravine, try to continue following the coast line.

Follow the coast until you reach a funeral pyre. You should bump into them there. Change the time to the evening if you can't see them.

Ok, will do, thanks for your suggestions. I will post here again when I found them (but will try not to spoil too much).

I must be blind... I followed the coast several times now, but didn't see a funeral pyre, unless you mean the site of the execution. These beaches are the ones I know and checked:

-The beach at the Little Sisters house
-The beach at the Execution site
-The beach near the Blue Stripes camp
-The beach at the West gate of the fort
-The beach that can be reached when travelling through Odrin's cave (there are 3 exits there, I think)
-The beach at the east of the fort, which can also be reached by jumping down and over a gap when coming from the Visionary
-The beach at the Visionary

Which one did I miss? Any hints and help is welcome.
I just found them a bit by accident at the execution site:

Aha, could it be the two soldiers that pay their respect to the Sorceress's site? I have talked to them and basically told them to find the way back on their own. The quest did not fail then, and now they have gone and did not return.

Hmm, I hope they return :P

Yes, those are the soldiers.

Later on, you'll see them with big Z outside the gate. Not immediately, so just let it happen naturally.

Oh gosh, what a waste of time then. Big Z has gone, and so have the soldiers. I saw them later on near the inn (east of camp) and spoke to them, but now I am afraid I advanced too far to finish the quest. Too bad, I will not backtrack this time... too much work.

That's just it.. it's impossible to follow the coast, and there are a cazillion little sub-sections. Which one is the correct entrance?
Ah, they're in the southwest quadrant (I read somewhere where it said Northeast).
See this link.
