I'm still just at the beginning, but if I compare to a game like Planescape Torment, the story is cliché, bland, predictable, etc. The characters, too, don't seem to have nothing incredible (Geralt saying: Enough about philosophy, politics...). And all the "f*ck" add nothing to the story imho. But it's just the first impression and I hope it gets some depth, because everything else seems good (visuals, music, immersion, combat, etc.)

well, the game is ending when it should be just the beginning. an expension pack maybe.
The story gets much more involved and convoluted around chapter 2, but if you're going to compare everything to Planescape, you're looking at a lifetime of disappointment as far as gaming goes.
and most of the people enjoys Floatsam part more than the whole game.
Play until the end and everything will come clear. The story has depth, but the main showcase is characters and their hidden intention. You will learn soon enough.

Well, I don't compare every game to Planescape Torment, but this game, as it seems to focus on the story more than exploration, if it's just the generic fantasy story like Dragon Age: Origins, it would be a little deception. But I'll just continue as you say it becomes more interesting in chapter 2 :)

Edit: Thank you for your answers!

Seems you're also part of the "Planescape ruined other games' story lines for me club" :p. Nothing can compare to it really.

In all seriousness though, it does get better, prologue was meh, chapter 1 was eh and right now I'm in chapter 2 and it's OH.
for me i found the story whent meh..okay ..Great ...sokay in that order but at least theres actual nudity in the game non of this bioware softy wafty approach. would deffo say that chapter 1 and chapter 2 is the most intresting and have seen both sides of the coin inregards to plot options.
Finally, I found the story alright, but really nothing great. And there were no memorable characters or any really memorable moments in my book. The game was short too. But it was still a good game, just not the best rpg of all time... in my opinion...
