Hi gog-friends,

I got a problem running Witcher 2, maybe there is a solution out there?

If I start Witcher 2 everything works fine, but if I select new game I get the initial screen messages and then the game begins, I can hear the game but my screen went black and there is no way than to kill the game with the taskmanager.

So I can not play the game. I applied the two patches and the same behaviour, not a black screen but a flickering with the colours of the initial screen messages. The sound is showing that the game is in progress but I could not see anything.

Maybe you can help me out?

Thank you guys

Amplifire

Edit:

My specs:

Intel Dual core 3,5 GHz
Asus P5WD2
2 GB Ram interleaved
ATI x1950 Pro 512 Ram Water cooled

newest drivers and very stable system without any circumstances while playing other games with higher specs as Witcher 2 for more than three days in one session.

Oh, not to forget I got Witcher 2 from gog yesterday and the patches I installed are sincerely from gog, but with no help in this behaviour.

I tried it many times and the result is the same. New install from the game is the same result. Not playable because of the black screen in game. Sound works fine. Weird.

You have more than one problem here.

Your CPU is a Pentium 4 or Pentium D, if that's your motherboard. They aren't supported, and I can tell you from direct experience that they can't handle this game worth crap.

The X1950 Pro is somewhat below the minimum for this game, but its problem is more likely its age than its ability to push pixels. This is a pre-unified shader card. My only attempt to play this game on a card from before unified shaders (an nVidia 7800 GS) ended in a similar Charlie Foxtrot.

Thank you very much for your reply s.

Than I can play the game later on, if I went to a new machine.

I can uninstall the game at now and if the time come true for a better machine, I have the pleasure to play it.

Very cool. So I have the time to end the first Witcher and then, time will show.

Thank you guys, so I know that everything is fine.

Yours
