Ok I played through the witcher 2 6 months back I'm trying to pick it up again for another play through. I'd uninstalled it so I downloaded the installer from gog and it installed fine. I opened the launcher and patched a couple times and everything seemed set. I tell it to play and I get the wolf head icon in the middle of my screen. Five minutes later I'm still looking at that wolf head and nothing is happening.

I uninstalled and tried again patched same results. Its a Intel core 2 quad with 3GB ram and a ATI HD5700 running with xp if that helps any thing. I'm using the same computer I used 6months ago so I know the hardware shouldn't be a problem and I've updated my video drivers.

I had it working once but my computer crashed part way through the prologue and I'm back to waiting at the wolf head. Can anyone suggest anything that might help?

Try bypassing the launcher. Go to the game folder and in the "bin" subfolder start the game using the file "witcher2.exe"

If you need to change your settings use the file "configurator.exe" (also in the "bin" folder)

I've tried that but I get a very similar result. The game never doesn't start although there is no wolf picture on the screen. Its not really that the launcher is failing its that for some reason the game its self isn't starting :( .

I've also since taken out my dvd copy and installed that and after all the patches have gone through it gives me the same result. Guess I'm going to try again from the dvd without any patches and see if that works any better.

Ok well I have it working but not the base W2 enhanced or the 3.2 patch but with the 3.1 patch alone it seems to work... Who knows whats going wrong with the other states. It's working and hopefully 3.2 doesn't have any serious fixes.
