Tried both manually and auto-update via GOG Client.
Note: "Z:" is my SSD dedicated just for games.

Something happened during the processed & hosed your game. Your best bet is to re-install & patch up until 1.04 & THEN launch the game & play. Your save files "Should" be ok.

Never mind it appears you're good to go after the reboot.

Yes,sometimes a simple re-boot will fix a lot of problems.
