Hi there,

Can someone explain to me this activate ability mechanic?

I just realised it's there. So basically unless it's activated an ability will have no effects?
What about general abilities like armor and sun and stars? I need to activate those to take effect?

There seem to be really few slots for abilities...so maybe I'm missing something

There are four mutagen slots, and 12 ability slots on the character screen. In order to get bonuses for the ability you have been adding points to, you need to drag it into one of the 12 ability slots. Most slots are locked early on, so it is a good idea not to spread your points around early, unless you plan to change active abilities based on the coming battle.

For example, when I had Puppet (Axii), my opponent would still attack me when I tried to cast, and casting took a long time. When I put both Puppet and the first Axii skill, Delusion, into active slots, the Puppet ability cast a lot faster, and the enemy did not attack while I was casting.
mhmm, so are you saying activating abilities provides bonuses for them, but they work even if they're not activated?
No, I'm saying that to get their bonuses you have to activate them. I don't know if that is true for the general skills you mentioned, but that should be easy to test by checking the stats screen ('c' when on the character screen).

Abilities do not work if you don't activate them my putting them into one of the available slots.
