Hi all,

I've got a very strange bug (it seems) in The Witcher 3. I've finished the game once without any problems, now on my second character, about 5-6 hours in, I'm unable to select my Axii sign.

I tried quitting and reloading the game but no dice. It's very strange. If I use the mousewheel to cycle through signs it stops at igni (won't continue, as axii is the next choice) and if I press TAB to open the menu, highlight axii, click, nothing happens.

I tried unequipping all my gear and mutagens and such.

Very strange indeed. Are you using Galaxy? If so you could always try the verify/repair option. That's all I can come up with.

Just tried that. Also tried loading my first character's endgame save and it works there - so I guess something "broke" it on my current run. I'm more annoyed that this blocks me being able to select my signs by quickly scrolling through them.

Ya that's gotta be it. I'm about ~35hrs into my first play through and I don't rember any sign not being selectable. I was thinking maybe you were in a seciton that wanted you to use a certain sign or somehting, but if Axii is the only one not working thats probably not the case.

Have you tried an earlier save from your current play through?

I rember seeing somehting somewhere about using a save from an older verison of the game can cause issues. So maybe if your save was from 1.03 and now we are on 1.04 that could have something to do with it.

That's very possible. I did try to load an older save but it's already broken in my oldest save for that char. I just never noticed because I rarely use Axii in battle (only on shield bearers).

Haha, as luck would have it, I just arrived at a certain point in the game where I received a new item that's crucial to the story, and it somehow unbugged my axii sign xD

I believe there was a saying for that, where a problem fixes itself just after you ask for help.

Hope it doesn't happen again though. Imagine if the love of my life, the gorgeous Quen, gets bugged. *Shivers*

Well, I guess that's a closed case then. Would say glad we found a fix, but I think I'll say - glad it worked it self out =)

My guess is that if a sign breaks like it did, you need to keep playing until the game finds a need to reinitialize your character.

For me it was using the mask of orobouros. I just received it from Yen at the disaster site, it was immediately fixed there.

I just experienced this bug and I can say that apparently using any (key?) item will work to fix this issue. I fixed it by pulling out a lamp from an earlier quest.
Kinda wonder if using any item (bombs or potions) will work? If someone else experiences this bug, can you test this?

I have exprienced the same bug as well, after updating to 1.04 I couldnt select axii in any way (scrolling, keyboard shortcut, tab wheel). Kind of annoying given that it's actually useful against some enemies (alghuls, shieldbearers) and I already levelled it up for conversations but only realised the bug a long while after patch. I'll try to equip the lamp as suggested above. Using/equiping potions, food or crossbow doesn't fixit I'm assuming it's the same for bombs.

Exactly the same thing happened to me. I'm glad I found this thread via google. As soon as I arrived at the disaster site and triggered the cut scene, I was able to use Axii again. Weird bug.

Just had this happen to me. I think triggering a Axii stone of power might of triggered it. Anyone got any ideas to get rid of it?

The trick with the magic lamp did it for me. Just equip it and use it. Right after that, Axii was selectable again. :)

I arrived at Skellige and used one of the sign stones, since then i couldn't use AXII i believe. Using the magic lamp did it for me too.
