I'm just a hair from level 6 and have 3 points to spend, my 1st choice is maxed out at 5. Why isn't it letting me use points for new skill?

What skill are you trying to add to?

Skills lower on a tree require a certain number of total points spent in the tree, rather than specific prerequisite skills; maybe that is your problem.

In the swordman's path, you need to spend 10 points before unlocking a new branch.

I'm now level 6 put 1st 5 points in muscle memory, fast attack it's maxed out I have 4 points to spend, and 3 open box's but can't select any skill for the box's, this makes no sense at all !!! How do I spend them it's not letting me select any skill period, used 5 all in muscle memory fast attack, 4 points that aren't being put to use, this seems lame as hell !!!

OK I had to spend points in other fields now I get it

You can't put points into something like precise blows yet, because you don't have enough points in the rest of the combat tree. You can put points into skills such as arrow deflection or resolve, since they are on the first row/tier.

You put points into skills on the left side of the character screen. When you have at least one point in a skill, you can drag that skill into one of the boxes on the right side of the screen, to activate it. You need to activate skills so that you can use them, or gain their passive bonuses.

You can put a mutagen into one of the four sideways boxes. Any skills with the same color as the mutagen, that are connected to that mutagen slot, will give you the full mutagen bonus again.

I'm level 25 now have 3 box's maxed in Sign's with bonus, 2 yellow school things , 2 maxed green Alchemy box's and a bonus for that. Why can I still not gain any battle skills ??? I have one point saved yet, just super IRKed at this point system can't figure out what is needed to add more combat skills, it never let's me select a new skill have tried every one on top row NOTHING!!!
