Hello guys!

I bought a copy of The Wither 3 from the site cjscdkeys.com (which I'll refrain from using again, more on that later) but it doesn't work. All I get when trying to redeem my code at GOG.com/redeem, following the instructions from cjs by the letter, I still get 'Invalid key'. Naturally my first reaction was to contact CJS, I haven't had any reason to doubt them before, but still if anyone could solve this it should be them right? This is the copy/paste answer I got:

" See product page for info on how to activate.

First of all, please go back to the product page and ensure that you are actually trying to activate it in the correct place.

It is extremely unlikely that the problem is a used or invalid key. I have checked our records and can see that we have only sent the key once. However, we will do all we can to assist you.

Please complete the following.

Ensure you are typing the code correctly. - watch out for 1 & I 0 & O 8 & B 5 & S
Ensure you are using a VPN to comply with the correct region for the game - see product page.
Ensure that your PC is running the latest software and is running in admin mode.

Contact the support for the actual game site. For example, Steam, Origin, UbiSoft.
Still got a problem?

Send us a screen shot:

1. With the entered key before the activation;
2. With the error message;
3. With your game library on Steam/Origin/Uplay/Xbox etc
4. The conversation you had with the support team of the activation site. - The screen shot should include the info they tell you, if they say the code is used the screen shot should show 'the time' 'the date' 'the country' it was activated in and 'the actual code you are discussing'

Please send us full, unedited screenshots in .jpg or .png format.

PLEASE NOTE, WITHOUT ALL FOUR SCREEN SHOTS WE CANNOT PROCESS YOUR REQUEST.

Please ensure that you include:

order number
problem
screen shots (must be less than 1mb or upload to imgur.com)

... With adequate proof and information here's our action:
We will go back to the supplier with this information and request that they resolve the problem for you.
We will mark your order 'Awaiting Pickup' whilst we do this.
When we have completed this task your order will be marked 'Completed' - when this happens, if you have not heard from us by email then please contact us again immediately.

To speed response time for all of our customers, please only reply If your require further assistance. There Is no need for any reply if everything Is OK. :-) "

Now this didn't solve my problem one bit, seeing that I copied my key straight from their site and even tried it manually a few times. So I contacted GOG.com to try and get necessary information needed to go on with this issue, even though I 100% think this should be CJS problem, nevertheless I'm stuck before I can get any more clarification on this.

I've contacted GOG support twice, the first time I got a fast response but it didn't lead anywhere and then there was just silence (24HT06WZ), so I made another ticket (JQLSMRCB) and this time I was more detailed. But I haven't heard a word from GOG, which is frustration because CJS doesn't give at all about their customers, when I contacted them again I just got the same copy/paste message and after having made a post on their facebook they deleted it and blocked me from posting there again - They're crooks basically!

So I plead to GOG, is there anything you can do to assist me in this issue? I think it goes without saying that all my trust in CJS is long gone, they could have apologised, instead they throw dirt and cut me off.

I also made an honest review on the company at Trustpilot and I recommend people to read it before they made business with them. You can look it up at their website, since I can't post links on here for some reason.

Maybe your key is among some of these.
It would also be a good idea to contact Firek since he might speed up the progress. It is also a bad idea to make more than one ticket at once since your old ticket will end in the back of the row together with your new ticket.

Xardas722, hello and thanks for your reply!

It wasn't my intention to choke their system with making a new ticket, it's just that my first reply was almost instant and then they went silent for a couple of days which I thought strange. Anyways, thanks for the information. Have a pleasant evening to you.

Wow, they ask you to use a VPN to activate the keys in case the region isn't the same? That's absurd.

It's also highly suspicious practice.
Never buy from shady sites. Ask for a refund.

I know right! Although in my case it shouldn't be necessary, since I bought a European key and live in Sweden. But I agree, it does sound fishy...

Vrgood: Never buy from shady sites. Ask for a refund.
I never did consider them too be shady before this incident, otherwise I wouldn't have bought from them before, they have a pretty much solid record at Trustpilot (although now I've smudged it abit), so I wasn't worried. But for me they have now shown their true faces and how well they treat their loyal customers so it goes without saying that I'll never buy from them again and that I'll refrain everyone I know Not to buy from them.

Problem is, I cannot just ask for a refund, according to them they have delivered the game and so I cannot just ask for a refund since the key is "used up" although that's ofc total BS seeing that it was a faulty key to begin with. But I cannot prove that to them until GOG steps up and supports my claim that something is indeed wrong with the key.

If you paid by Paypal (please don't tell me you gave them your card details) you can just dispute the transaction and Paypal will definitely support you. Having a bad reputation on Paypal is something no seller wants and opening a dispute helped me already twice (once got a damaged goods due to packaging, once got an educational license for sw).

Unfortunately I did use my credit card, so I fear my only option is getting some sort of clarification from GOG. Does it usually take long for GOG to respond? I still haven't heard a word.

It might take around a week these days. If you can dispute the payment with your bank I would do so; saves time and hassle.

Not sure I can do that, by trade laws here in Sweden I need to be able to return the product if I am to get my return and how could I return a key that in their mind is spent? I'll give it a try though, it's not like I have much options here. :)
Alright GOG just replied to me and said this key was to be activated through Nvidias website and apparently that it was a promotional code. So all this time I actually did have a working key, only CJS didn't mention anything about this being a promotional key. All this headace and frustration... Anyways, in the end they've still lost a loyal customer, can't believe they didn't even come to think of mentioning this to me. Thanks to GOG and thanks to everyone here. I'll mark this thread as "solved" now.

That is a shady practice as Nvidia keys are not to be sold. It is probably a 3rd party key marketplace(people sell keys and they take a cut).

You can go on reddit on r/gamedeals and you can check out which sites are trustworthy.
