I'm trying to optimize TW3 to run good on an ASUS G75VW laptop (I think the GPU (Geforce GTX 670M) is below minimum requirements). I've got it to run at about 30 fps on the 1366x768 resolution with most settings at medium, but many things disabled altogether.

However, many of the graphics options are gibberish to me (e.g. I recall there was something like "Sharpness" or somesuch, and many others). Is there some detailed description somewhere what each graphics option does, how much more it will tax the system, and maybe how much it is supposed to improve the graphics?

I know these are mostly quite personal preferences overall which effects are important etc. (for instance, I don't really mind playing on a lower resolution, as long as it is a 16:9 resolution; also edge aliasing I might usually turn off, as it seems to usually slow the graphics down a lot for little benefit, IMHO). Then again, I like to keep e.g. texture quality as high as possible.

Just to get some kind of idea of the different options.

I was also going to ask for the lack of support for 1280x720 resolution, but I see this was already explained in the FAQ sticky...

http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/guides/the-witcher-3-wild-hunt-graphics-performance-and-tweaking-guide - here is a quite nice article about optimising the game with screenshots, comparisons and such.
I think with it's help you could easely tweak your game and get good fps count.

Thanks, I'll check that. If they have screenshot comparisons even, that is exactly what I was looking for.

If the current around 30fps (at 1366x768, or I might try the unofficial 1280x720 resolution too) remains for the rest of the game, that is good enough for me. I just want to double-check that I haven't e.g. disabled some graphics options that improve the graphics a lot without slowing it down much. (I already know that motion blur etc. can already remain disabled, I don't care for them either way.)

Only place I know is the german site gamestar.de
They did a test with all the different settings.

http://www.gamestar.de/spiele/the-witcher-3-wild-hunt/artikel/the_witcher_3_wild_hunt_systemanforderungen,49062,3085863.html

Short summery:
- you can use High Textures with any graphics card that has at least 2,0 GByte VRAM
- decreasing Terrain Quality pushes the fps 15%
- hairworks costs 30% fps
- water quality costs 15% fps
- foliage visibility range kosts 10%
