I have sent this to the support email twice and have gotten automated "please use blah blah blah downloader to download the game..." etc...

Well I have downloaded the game and installed it and also the patch which came out yesterday and installed it.

However when I attempt to run the game the screen goes black for a second or two then nothing happens, the executable exits memory and that is that.

No error messages or other feedback.

Has anyone else had this happen to them? I am running a dell laptop with an Nvidia 540M card and 2 gig of video memory. The laptop has 8 gigs of ram and I am running Windows 7 64 bit.

I will have to say that the retarded hideously mind numbing robot response system that gog.com seems to have setup for all emails into their support email box is appalling. And not only that but the ticket is automatically closed as soon as this robot message is sent back to the customer.

I guess I can understand the initial message being canned but when that one is responded back from the customer explaining (again) the situation and that it has nothing to do with downloading the game and THEN that second response from gog.com support is exactly the same as the initial response..., well I have a hard time understanding that and it is obvious that neither of my messages to suport was actually read by a (thinking) human.

Well that was a stupid long sentence wasn't it?

I just read through the faq, so before someone posts and tells me to uninstall and re-install Galaxy (which by the way is essentially what the robot response squad from gog support told me to do), please understand I have not ever installed Galaxy and so I don't ever need to uninstall it.

I guess I will mess with this a little while longer and then just get a refund if stupid gog support does not respond with some rationality.

I am seeing the same symptoms, but my Windows 7 system has 12GB of RAM and an ATI 4800 series with 4GB.

[Edit: The 4800's don't support DirectX 11. Whether or not that is triggering these crashes, I won't be playing with this setup.]

I did use Galaxy to install, but it does not seem to capture any error status from the failed launch either.

Seconded.

Not on a laptop but on a desktop. My specs are the following;

Processor: AMD FX-8350 Eight-Core Processor (8 CPUs, 4.0 GHz)
GPU: AMD Sapphire R9 290 TRI-X OC (4GB GDDR5)
RAM: 16.0 gb
Windows 7 Professional 64-bit

Same issue here:

GeForce GTX 680M
32G RAM
Windows 7 Pro 64bit

I've tried re-installing many different ways using tips in related threads...
Ok I have the answer. It was actually embedded in the robot text sent out initially.

There was a link to the game pre-reqs. Apparently this game *requires* 6 gig of video memory At Minimum...

Obviously my puny 2 gig aint going to cut it.

no it does not require 6 gigabyte of "video memory"
your graphics card might be too weak though, what kind of processor does your laptop have?
Can you post a link to the specs maybe?

After installing the 1.03 patch through gog galaxy my game ran once, then started not launching. I had to reinstall from my download archive and install that way to get it to work again. If you're running galaxy it might be causing problems especially if you update through it.

To give a little more info, I installed from the boxed version via DVD, then updated through galaxy, it ran one time, then would refuse to launch after that. To get it to work, I uninstalled, downloaded the game from gog.com and ran the patches that I also downloaded. I have not touched galaxy since then and it's been fine so far.

My 690 only has 2GB and it runs the game perfectly. It doesn't require 6GB.
