Rapster: Have you guys checked your Windows options and made sure Windows is set to output 2.0 (stereo) rather than 5.1?

This could be the reason...

gelangweilt: i have no options at all i can change.
Control Panel -->
Hardware and Sound -->
Sound -->
Right-click 'Speakers' (this'll be the audio solution you are using; soundcard, onboard, etc.) -->
'Configure Speakers' -->
...and here you'll have the 'Sound Setup'. Choose your speaker setup and test.

You need to output stereo mix to a receiver that will decode it, that's the only way of having dolby pro logic or dts-6 (and alike) sound on a PC. Select the stereo output in the sound settings with full range speakers option checked. Any surround setup in windows will output the PCM sound which may just not work with some games. If you don't use a receiver then use the "volume normalizer" option in your sound settings. Or "loudness equalization".
Have you already tried what is mentioned in the FAQ?

Q.: The audio level is very low or missing when the game starts, during dialogs and cutscenes.
A.: The only solution up to date is to change your configuration to either Stereo (2.0) or Quadraphonic (4.0) until the game is fixed. (Cheers Red_Eagle_LXIX)

Okay, no probs! Sorry for my persistence.
Seems like you only have installed the windows standard sound driver. If you have a onboard solution go on the website of your motherboard manufacturer and look for the latest sound driver. If you have a sound card go to the website of the sound card manufacturer. If you have already done this open this program. You should have more options there.

these speakers have their own audio built in. there are no drivers necessary.
like i said, all games so far no problem. TW3 is the only game with this problem :-(
The speakers are NOT the problem.

The speakers are getting their signal from your computer.

I've forgotten whether you using a laptop or desktop computer.

The speakers plug into your computer and they get their signal from either the onboard sound ( on the motherboard --- very common these days ) or from a sound card like a Soundblaster.

Since you don't seem to be aware of that, I would guess your computer has sound built into the motherboard.

You can < probably > go to the website of your computer maker --- or the motherboard maker if you have a desktop ---
and get the latest sound drivers from them.

If you had a separate sound card ( not so common anymore although it used to be ) you would do the same thing --- go to the website and get their latest drivers.

I'm betting you have sound built into the motherboard of your computer ( whether laptop or desktop ) and you < may > need the latest drivers.

That being said, I have sound built into this motherboard and have the latest drivers and STILL have the same problem.

Character dialogue is very very low in many cases.

Many people have complained.

Nothing appears to have been done.

But, I hear there is a huge major patch coming up 1.07 that is < supposed > to fix a lot of things. Hopefully this problem will be one of them.

Arizona-Willie:
i know the speakers are not the problem. they are connected by USB and like i wrote they have their own audio aplifier buitl in. onboard audio is disabled and i have no extra soundcard. the speakers have their own soundcard so to say.

Lets hope 1.07 fixes this... its highly annoying.
