I just want to express how disappointed I am, after excitedly starting up The Witcher 3 this afternoon, only to see that you can NOT re-bind the most basic of keys...the movement keys. That's right, a PC game from a well known developer in the year 2015, has no option to re-bind the MOVEMENT keys... There are games on Steam, that are in their very early access stages that allow you to change the movement keys lol.

I have read through many post on GOG and Steam about this issue, and it seems that the devs do not care, and will probably never do anything about it. I have not seen any official statements about the issue either. Just a complete dismissal of the complaints about it.

I would ask for a refund, but I have read from others who've tried, that they're only offering a store credit. I was under the assumption that the "30 Day Money Back Guarantee" would be for more than just if you can't get the game to work. I thought it would apply to something of this sort, (being that the game is not accessible for me due to my set-up, with "WASD" as the movement keys) or if you're extremely unsatisfied with your purchase.

I have strongly supported GOG/CD Projekt Red since I first heard about them, and have always tried to talk gamers into buying games from them, but in light of their disdain for their customers. I will not be supporting them as I used to.

- A very un-happy customer, and ex-GOG/CD Projekt Red supporter.

This is in the FAQ. You can edit a config file for most bindings. Also, I'm betting this will be in a future patch.
Unbelievable.
Rejecting left-handed players is unforgivable for a company of this level.

Apart from also being disappointed and unhappy, it's worrying that word is now filtering through that maybe CDPR may not be all that interested in fixing this.

I'm trying to reserve a lot of judgement here, so I hope they will still fix this.
Yep, let's see what's in the first patch.

I know there are larger issues with stability fixes, specifically for SLI and non-Maxwell GPU performance. But I'm sure these issues are known by this point.
You're overreacting.

I did not say it was not a legit concern, but he's overreacting to it. Making statements like: " and it seems that the devs do not care, and will probably never do anything about it. I have not seen any official statements about the issue either. Just a complete dismissal of the complaints about it."

This is pure stupidity. The game just came out and it's MASSIVE. CDPR games have always had Day 1 problems, but they have NOT failed to pull through to please their customers. OP needs to learn some patience, as well as to think things through.
Quite a few options to counter the inability to change keybinds in-game, probably takes less time to set this up then posting your dissatisfaction about something that is apparent to everyone, developers included.

I can do both. Although I shouldn't have to do either.

True, no one should.

Doesn't change the fact that you are one of the very few who even considered the option to fix things instead of moaning about them.

Since CDPR don't appear to be dealing with this, then I'm not sure I have much of a choice. It's either try and figure something out or... ... not play the game? Refunds don't seem like the sort of thing GOG are looking to do on this, so it may well be that I'm not moaning, but then, I don't think anyone else is either.

This tipped the scale for me. No more pre-ordering. My opinion of CDPR drops further and further. As for the game... well... I might get to play it at some point.

There is absolutely no ground for a refund as the game works perfectly fine, it lacks a convenience feature a small number of customers ask for. Let's not blow things out of proportion here; while I agree that it should have been in the game right from the start, this is a minor issue with a workaround that doesn't take more than ten minutes of your time, which is proportionately less than the time you spend complaining about it.

It must have been a conscious design decision (obviously based around consoles) but isn't the ability to work with whatever is thrown at you really makes playing games on the PC unique? It is not just the amazing graphics and the endless possibilities with mods but the fact that you find workarounds for issues together with your fellow PC players.

Even if your opinion drops about CDPR it probably still is leagues above the rest of the AAA publishers and rightly so. Try to be a bit more constructive and give them some time to work on a game that has just been released.

I don't think the majority who have a problem are blowing anything out of proportion here. I do think that far more are trying to diminish things, although I do not know why. "...it lacks a convenience feature a small number of customers ask for." Forcing players to use certain keys to play the game, is just an inconvenience? We didn't ask for it, it should just be there.

"...isn't the ability to work with whatever is thrown at you really makes playing games on the PC unique?"

I'm not sure if you're serious or...? Key Rebinding. The movements key are locked in game. To WASD and the arrow keys. It's such a basic thing. Something that was around over two decades ago and for all the talk of this game, the people making it thought that in order to change those keys and many others, people would have to look elsewhere, to third part programs, or manual editing. Woking out what is locked, but not really and what it really locked as in actually locked.

Again, they don't seem to be taking this issue as something that they need to fix, telling people to use a Key Remapping Program? Has there been any word about this? How it could even happen in the first place? The constructive thing to do would have been for CDPR to so something so obvious, that to not do it, after all the hype, never even occurred to me. And that was:

To allow players to make whatever key/button they want, do the thing in the game.

They're suppose to be a AAA Developer/Publisher. Why do we have to get around all this and work things out?
