I have just finished a quest "Wandering in the Dark" and I want to do the Ladies of the Woods quest and the first thing I have to do is to read the book with the same title. I was supposed to get it at the end of Wandering in the Drak quest, but I don't have it. I came back to the dungeon the quest took place and thoroughly explored it, but the book is nowhere to be found. Can I just skip the reading and start the quest without it or do something else?

Did you look in your inventory, under "Quest Books" ?

Yeah, I did of course. It's not there.

That book is given to you automatically by the same script that gives you the quest, as part of the conversation with Keira.
And the game doesn't let you drop quest books you haven't read.
If you truly haven't got it, then your game is seriously borked.
If you are using GOG Galaxy, you could try a verify game files, otherwise uninstall and reinstall.
Then go back to an earlier save before the conversation with Keira.
Are you using any mods that may be interfering with the scripts?

I see. I verified the game - nothing happened. I'm not using any mods. Attached are some screens from the game - all books and my quests.

Alright, it had been a while since I played, the books only show up in the quest books part, after they are read.
I just replayed the section, and here is what happens.

Keira hands you the book as part of the conversation. (book1s.jpg)
The book is added to you inventory, while you are still in the conversation. (book2s.jpg)
After the conversation finishes, you get the new quest. (quests.jpg)
The book only shows up here, until you have read it. (questitems.jpg)

Now if you replayed this section, and this didn't happen, then there is still something wrong with your game.

You could just add the book with the console, but if your game has major scripting faults, you'll likely just have more problems down the track.
