This might sound stupid, but for some reason I am unable to cast Aard during the training sequence early in the game. For some reason the wheel no longer changes the spells. Is this a bug? thanks.

Press [3] - that's the shortcut to Aard sign. Signs have shortcuts, much like weapons, by default they are under keys 3 to 7.
