I'm early in the process of completing the 'wandering in the dark', "bloody baron" and the "in Ciri's footsteps" missions to try and locate Ciri in Velen, but I have the 'pyres of Novigrad" quest available in the quest menu which says that Ciri's trail has led Geralt to Novigrad.

Isn't it too early to have the "pyres of Novigrad" mission available when I haven't completed the "in Ciri's footsteps" mission?

no, i think its available as soon as you go to velen. the suggested levels are there for a reason tho, you probably wont be able to do many quests in novigrad bc youre underleveled. just bc the game gives you the option of doing something irrational, doesnt mean you have to or should do it...just use common sense & youll be fine
No as you discover that your old love, Triss, has a fancy house in Novigrad. Since she is a mage, she might be helpful in finding Ciri. I think Yennefer tells you that just after you first meet her after White Orchard.

Thanks, I forgot about that, I thought the quest was telling me where CIri was.
