For those, like me, that thought that if you droped something on the floor it would stay forever : we are wrong.
I had the bad surprise to see that one of my spot where I had some storage has disappeared.

At another travel post I still have my loot.

So I'm not sure if it's juste me, a bug or whatever, but be warned that loot on the floor can actually disappear.

yes, this is a "feature", stuff does not stay forever.
Not having proper storage in the game is now really a big pain in the ass...
Amazing that something they had to add in a patch in The Witcher 2 is again missing in TW3 !!

perhaps not, but all the varied armor, unique swords..it definitely doesnt need stored but itd be nice to be able to do it. not really so much for convenience w/ the actual game, just as a nerd collector kind of thing. i am holding onto a couple swords & some armor simply bc it looks very different from typical. maybe you can find upgraded versions later but unless theres a guide for where every piece of armor + sword in the game is (if its not randomized), i like holding on to the interesting looking stuff even if its not useful.

whats the point if they have no use?

personal taste, or screenshots.

your approach is most pragmatic, but im not the only one who enjoys different aesthetics just for the sake of it
Yeah I like hoarding stuff too. Just for the heck of it. So an official storage system would be great.
What I do for storage at the moment is sell my stuff to NPCs. You'd be paying 10x the price to get it back though. haha.

Right now they are still there.. though the items I sold could also vanish after some time just like the ground storage.

Stash storage was added to the Witcher 2 post-release, I have a feeling you'll see it in the Witcher 3 eventually too.
I have noticed something.
I have some loot that are still present without problems.

The loot wich has disappear were in fact 2 bags that I had dropped on the exact same spot.
May be that's why when I came back somthing went wrong and they got scratch from the game.

I'm trying to confirm this.
I have a feeling there is more to this. I have items I dropped in the village area of Crow's Perch when I first arrived there still in place even after making it all the way to the end of the game. But then, just up the road near the Armorer, I dropped some a couple Witcher gear swords I couldn't yet use and they disappeared almost immediately after leaving the area.

I wonder if it has something to do with the value of the items or proximity to merchants. It just seems odd the game would track where I dropped some smoking pipes forever but forget where I dropped unique weapons right away.
The way i'm storing items(if you can call it that) is by selling them, i use a blacksmith in Hierarch Square.
All my armour pieces & weapons i want to keep get sold to the blacksmith the same blacksmith i use to craft & repair items which helps to top up the blacksmiths money.
The draw back is i have to pay more than what i sold the item for to buy it back but money or lack of it is only really a problem early in the game while in White Orchard.

Any item you sell at a shop, blacksmith/armorer (apart from Junk items) will stay in that shop available to buyback whenever you choose.
i never had space problems, a storage is definitly not needed but of course why should we not have one?
It would do nobody any harm to have it :-)

Yes you could be on to something.
My bag that disappeared has high value items in it too, and it was near a big city so a lot of NPC around.
Tbh haven't seen any point in storage in my first walkthrough and don't see any in my current second walkthrough. If anything it'd be nice to have a proper house. Ooooor at least option to rebuild something in Kaer Morhen and make your own sorta "museum" there. That'd be nicer then simple storage for rather useless armors and armors from practical point of view.
