shishimaru1000: Right, the game uses DX11. I read some rumors about some DX 12 patch much later in the future, but I believe they're fake and that there'll be no DX12 version. It takes too much work.

And, if there'll ever be a patch, it'll only be for some graphic effect. No better performance.
This seems to be what I've found as well.

For what it's worth on Windows 10 64bit I've gotten *slightly* better performance than most have reported on the same hardware on different OS's. Running i7-4790k 4.0GHz with an MSI GTX 970 (underclocked to base clock) and I get around 50-55 fps with near everything on ultra, HBAO+, and hairworks on Geralt only. I also tweaked the shadows 'beyond' ultra. The exception is when the frame is filled with Geralt's head (read: hair). I get nasty drops then haha

That could also be the result of excessive performance tweaking I've done, so take it with a grain of salt.
If anyone is interested in what DirectX 12 will bring to the table, this is a pretty good read :

The game works fine with Windows 10. No patches are needed. If you upgrade, you should have no problem playing it.
From what I've gathered... the unofficial talk of the dev community is basically that the leads at various games studios are older, stuck in their ways, and generally not big fans of multithreading / dx12 api.

Many of em will be dragged, kicking and screaming into the new age... or we'll have to wait a couple years for the "back to school" period, where they're all learning the new tricks of the trade.

You guys should know how it is. Your leads, management etc, in darn nearly every field seem slow to adopt the latest and greatest. There'll be a few outliers that jump on it like a dog on a bone, but I suspect it taking awhile.

As for TW3, would these devs adopt dx12, patch their game? Xbox One is getting the update and will be using the new API. They'll have to be familiar with it going forward. Updating TW3 for dx12 would kind of be like slapping the training wheels on in prep for their next big release. Get all the kinks worked out, get familiar with it, etc. There's not a lot of risk in doing so and plenty of knowledge to gain.
