I rarely hear this game brought up in the list of great FMV titles, but it more than deserves a place on those lists. This family friendly adventure is still scary and unnerving as a horror title without pandering to young audiences. The puzzles are complex and well thought out. The acting is solid, with memorable performances from the many cursed performers trapped in the theater. Most importantly, the title smartly uses the FMV conceit to tell a more robust story that feels like a tv show without locking gameplay into a choose-your-own-adventure movie. FMV was a wild time for games, and A LOT of bad ones were made. They would famously hit dead ends and automatic failure states and be frustrating to navigate. Orpheo plays like a point and click adventure game with impressive cutscenes and dialogue trees. The characters you can interact with feel like NPCs, not short films. A lot of cozy mystery games today have DNA that traces back here. Definitely a great game to explore, especially for children who like something spooky and moody without being violent or too scary. It’s been 30 years since I’ve played it, and the nightmares have very nearly stopped.

A far creepier and spooky first person adventure game than you'd expect from something with this license. "Myst-like" in how you interact with the environment, but with a good mix of single-screen puzzles and things you have to use inventory items on. Would definitely have a bigger audience if this was available.
I don't know if it's PTSD, or excitement to re-experience this game again. At the time, I had never seen anything like it. As a kid, I was curious about what the kids were looking for in the theater. As I continued playing, I felt deeply invested behind every Ghosts' story, and how the kids had to solve the mystery behind Orpheo's Curse, before time ran out. It was thrilling, exciting, scary, but heartfelt and very memorable. I would love to experience it again with my kids someday.
