I discovered the first experimental gameplays of Blue Protocol in 2019, that was at the moment I just finished the Aincrad arc of Sword Art Online, and it was litterally what I was waiting for a MMO.
After some years, Blue Protocol was published, but only in Japan, so most of players had to use a VPN to play. But honestly, this was such an amazing experience. This game looked so fresh, the musics were so catchy, the gameplay was so brilliant, simple but addictive, it was a really enjoyable beginning.
A part of MMO players were complaining about the lack of content, of difficulty, and honestly, they were right. This game had an enormous potentiel, but devs were'nt in position to offer truly innovative content, or at least content that would meet the expectations of experienced players.
In conclusion, the game didn't even rechead the rest of the world and closed his doors in January 2025. What a shame to see a beautiful new game, that I was personnaly waiting since the first ever video I saw of it in 2019, closing after being reserved for Japan while a whole community in the world was waiting for it.
Tencent bought the rights to remake the game but with their own perspective, with the name of Star Resonance, it looks promising, but it is not Blue Protocol, the Blue Protocol that we played.
Let's continue to remember Blue Protocol as the colorful MMO that had everything to satisfy thousands, even millions of players with enjoyable hours spent with friends, whether fighting or exploring the world of Regnas, and not as this game wasted by Bandai Namco and Amazon who made questionable decisions to ultimately waste its potential.
Let's keep the memory of Blue Protocol alive until, one day I hope, we revive it for good.
