I was blown away by this game’s graphics. The story and bullet-time mechanics were great, but at the time, it was the most realistic-looking game I had ever played. That’s how I’ll always remember it.
Yes the game is on pc, such as steam, but it is barely playable without workarounds. I’d hope that GOG would be able to make the game absolutely perfect for modern PCs. Hoping rockstar are smart enough to allow this game on GOG and the eventual Max Payne remakes

Obvioulsy the game had a great, heavy weight story like taken directly from Vertigo graphic novels. But I specifically remember two things. Bullet time shootouts... this thing just blew me away immediately and did not get boring over time. The other thing was graphics. Back then it felt almost as realistic as movie, despite the flat faces!
During my time in school, it was the topic! A hard game, for a mature audience, with bullet-time (like in Matrix) and a hard, dark story. There were even rumours, that the game will be not long available in my country. Of course, my mom bought the game! I especially like the noir look, the comic cutscenes, the bullet-time and the really heavy atmosphere. Max was out for revenge, he had lost everything. Max was ready to kill and to die! From my perspective now, it´s simply funny, that Sam Lake hasn´t just „played“ Max Payne. He has also involved his parents! Both are in the game. I heared, his mom is evil, in the game ;) It would be nice, if there would be a special GoG Edition: Max Payne 1 + 2 as original version, includling the remakes of both games in one big bundle.

I watched my brother play this game during my first state exam. Every day for two weeks I had to write 5 hour exams from 8 to 13 o'clock, would come home at 14 to my brother's and mine apartment, eat what my brother kindly prepared and then just watch him play to regenerate and relax. The dark noir atmosphere, the excellent music adding to that and the bullet time concept I first saw in action really took me in. This was punctured by some real cool self-aware humour. The memories of my loving brother taking care of me are strongly connected to this game, too, as is 9/11 which happened at the beginning of my second exam week. I always wanted to buy the game to play it myself one day, to relive those memories, but never got my hands on it.

The gameplay and the bullet-time mechanic was wonderfull, as well as the storytelling. Everything about this game merges in the best possible way two medias like movies and games.

I have a specific memory of playing Max Payne on the original Xbox and there being a train level and I was really into the bullet time shooting mechanic as a kid. It was awesome to dive and activate the bullet time and try to clear the area just in bullet time. I can't remember if I ever was able to clear it or not though.

I was a teenager when this game came to my hands, so the spectacular cinematics and the bullet-time just amazed me. That was one of the titles that made me fall in love with videogames.

Many of us grew up with this game, enjoying every shootout and immersing ourselves in the dark story of Max Payne. It would be amazing to be able to relive those moments on GOG, with the convenience of their platform and the assurance that the game will work on our current devices (plus support for the Spanish language).

I don't have to explain the greatness of this game. Max Payne was ahead of its time, and now still holds up very well. Sadly, this game isn't playable on modern pc unless you install a bunch of patches, even for that one version sold on an steam. So i think it deserves a well done update and fix, in order that everyone can have easy access to it.

Manhunt
ManhuntManhunt is a third-person stealth horror game. The game consists of twenty levels, and four bonus levels that can be unlocked; the levels are referred to as "scenes". Players survive the Scenes by dispatching enemy gang members known as "Hunters", occasionally with firearms but primarily by stealthily executing them in gruesome, over-the-top ways. The player is rated at the end of each level, primarily dependent on the gruesomeness of the killings and the speed of completion, from one (unimpressive) to five (extremely competent) stars. Executions are preferred in order to gain a higher score, thus encouraging players to play as viscerally as possible. The game's locales are full of "dark spots" and shadows where the player can hide while being chased by the Hunters; hiding in these dark areas makes the player invisible to opponents.

Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII
Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VIIDirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII is an action role-playing third-person shooter. As the first shooter game in the Final Fantasy series, the action is viewed from an over-the-shoulder perspective similar to Resident Evil 4, although players can switch to a first-person perspective if they wish. Defeating enemies yields EXP, and at the end of each stage, the player can either use that EXP to level up, increasing Vincent's stats, or convert it to Gil (the in-game currency), which can then be used to purchase items and equipment upgrades.

Touhou Fuumaroku: The Story of Eastern Wonderland
Touhou Fuumaroku: The Story of Eastern WonderlandThe Story of Eastern Wonderland casts the player as the Shrine Maiden Reimu Hakurei and offers three distinct attack types to choose from: a wide-range type with weak attack power, a mid-range type with moderate attack power and auto-targeting capabilities, and a narrow-range type with high attack power but lowered movement speed. The bombs also exhibit unique behavior depending on the type chosen. As the first danmaku shooting game in the Touhou Project, the Story of Eastern Wonderland introduces many features that are now hallmarks of the series as a whole: relatively small hit boxes, boss characters who are not much larger than the player character however are highly mobile, a power-up system, variable-worth point items, an unlockable Extra Stage, and a semi-complex scoring system. The game also marks the first appearance of Marisa Kirisame, who would become a major character in the series, appearing as often as Reimu Hakurei herself.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake EaterMetal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is the follow up to Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. It is the first prequel in the series, taking the series to the year 1964. The player takes the role as the series' original antagonist, Big Boss, then known as Naked Snake. MGS3 is the first game in the series to take place in a jungle. This unique setting created an opportunity for new mechanics. The player can adapt to the environment by swapping Snake's camouflage, hunt animals and gather plants for food. This iteration in the series introduced a new feature in which the player must apply medicine and perform medical procedures on Snake if he is damaged in combat. Apart from the survival themed features, the controls and gameplay of the game are very similar to Metal Gear Solid 2. Like other Metal Gear games, the focus is on stealth, but the player can go through the entire game like a shooter if they choose to. Throughout the game Snake acquires weapons of all types; non-lethal firearms, handguns, sniper rifles, machine guns, shotguns, sub-machine guns, and explosives. Metal Gear Solid 3 was the first game to implement the CQC (close quarters combat) system. CQC allowed Snake to beat enemies down to knock them out, or put them in a chokehold to knock them out, kill them, or and/or question them. Metal Gear Solid 3's health system required the player to occasionally pause the game and treat Snake's ailments. When Snake is shot, there is a chance that the bullet didn't pass through him, requiring the player to use a knife to remove the bullet, apply disinfectant, apply styptic and bandage the wound. This was done through a submenu in the pause screen. Other ailments the player must treat Snake for include: leeches, broken bones, burns, cut, arrow/bolts/needles, stomach sickness, colds, and food/venom poisoning. Adding to the survival elements of the game, Snake Eater lives up to its name by requiring the player to scavenge food for Snake. Under the life bar there is stamina bar. If Snake does not eat any food the bar depletes, causing various effects. When the stamina bar is low, the player's ability to aim is severely handicapped, Snake's hands will shake in the first person aiming mode. Just like real life, Snake's stomach can also rumble, enemy soldiers can hear this, and will be alerted to Snake's presence.
