Long ago as a wee child, this was the first game my brother and I played when our parents surprised us with a rental SNES for Christmas. Despite being quite poor, those days were some of the happiest of my life. Any time I hear music from ninja gaiden, specifically the SNES rendition, I'm reminded of those times. God it was difficult, but we usually just wanted to make it to the snow level to listen to the music and get blown around the stage. Many people say the Trilogy versions are inferior to the NES originals, but to me these were and will always be the originals. Additionally, Trilogy is important because it contains all three games, has an expanded color palate, and ais accompanied by a rearranged soundtrack that has its own distinct sound. It's a shame we never snagged that rental copy, because this game is valuable now.
