Patch Quest is a twin-stick shmup roguelike where you navigate an island, collect monsters, and locate where bosses guard the treasures of the island. At the end of each run (usually by your death) you head back to base to organize monsters, arrange collected plant samples, and plan out what path you want to take next trip. You'll fight monsters, ride those monsters into battle, change the path more towards your benefit, and eventually figure out the mysteries of the island.
And then you'll head out again. Because you're always trying to catch the last few monsters you don't have, or grab the higher rarity versions, or collect new plants from the different biomes on the island, or grab more to make your monsters happy.
I've enjoyed the game a lot with the Steam release, and would very much pick up a copy on GOG if it made an appearance. Besides just being fun to play again, it would be nice to have a version that doesn't require an internet login to play.
