"The immediate future looks dark for Cyberpunk’s makers — perhaps even darker than the future they built in Night City. Refund requests are pouring in by the thousands. Lawyers and investors in Warsaw are circling the situation, contemplating a class-action lawsuit against the company for what one attorney described as potential criminal “misrepresentation in order to receive financial benefits.” Many gamers are swearing off playing Cyberpunk entirely until the company fixes all of the problems."

Does this means they are never implementing needed promissed features into the game are just crashing hard and abandoning the project?

I just bought the game. I had tried it out and it ran well, and I was enjoying it. Yes, there are problems, and some hot button issues (censorship), but overall, I like the game. My hope is that we'll see a No Man's Sky type redemption. The same issues plagued Hello Games and they came through with fixing and updating the game until it's now seen as an impressive accomplishment.

Cyberpunk 2077 is based upon a well known IP, with tons of materials to draw from. I think (and HOPE) that this will become a long lived series with DLC and modding tools to enable players to enjoy it for years to come.

Me too.

First they need to fix the ctd's for that to happen. >.<

they are not going to add features as that would require lots of time and money. they'll fix some bugs and do some tweaks but that's it.
Had they just shut up and just released the game people would have forgiven the broken state a lot faster, especially considering their track record were al their games turned into something really good.

"misrepresentation in order to receive financial benefits.” <--- In other words; false advertisements.
I think this is the case, there's no way all this was an accident other than quick buck hype train and then bail out shortly after.

I've just accepted I've lost most of the money so at this point I'm just glad they fix whatever they can before they possibly goes out due to law-suits.

I would be glad and a little surprised if they did, but no. They've only announced bugfixes in three stages so far.

We'll just have to sit and wait to see if they do the same as the developers of NMS where they litearlly isolated themselves to fix and implement everything they promised.

Read the article when it came out. Seems to be mainly focused on the gamer rage from console players and acts like this is some unprecedented thing, ignoring the fact that Arkham Knight was so broken that WB took it off steam. Of course the media is going to cater to the sjw baby gamers on Sony's platform who get tears in their eyes if you even dare think the last of us 2 wasn't a masterpiece. The only thing of note here is an investor with a law degree thinking about going after a class action lawsuit for the investors. They don't care at all about the players feelings of course and it's just another attempt at lining their pockets with more money on top of what they are made off this game being a massive financial success.

Saying they are not going to support Cyberpunk is fucking absurd. Look at Gwent and The Witcher series. Both not nearly as successful as Cyberpunk has been, yet they have overhauled the entirety of Gwent and are going to release an overhauled next gen update for The Witcher 3. Witcher 3 of course also being supported by some of the greatest post launch content ever made.

The idea that they are going to piss out some bug fixes and move on has absolutely no basis in reality and everything else this company has done for every other game it's produced points to long term support that adds in a breadth of content while listening to player feedback. Sorry if that truth hurts your fee fees, but you have been shitting up this forum for a while with negativity and you are clearly brainwashed by the negativity train with no ability to look at this situation with any perspective. "CDPR bad, Cyberpunk bad". We get it bro.

There is more nuance here than your black and white view on the game. You want to shit up this forum, go do it for Devotion. That's legitmately something to be mad about. CDPR releasing a buggy game and turning it into something great is par for the course for every release they have every made. The only difference is Cyberpunk was much more high profile and attracted the sort who don't understand that this is what they have always done and love to wallow in immediate post launch negativity.

That's not all they have announced. They have also announced plans for free next gen upgrades to old gen console owners. Free dlc support. Paid dlc support. A multiplayer mode that was scheduled to be released in about 2 years. Everything points to them having full intentions of supporting this game with content for years to come before there was even backlash.

Also one final note, if you think this game in it's current form is anywhere near the disappointment that No Man's Sky was, you need to put down the kool aid friend.

Witcher 3 alone sold 28.6 million copies according to a May 2020 dated article. Cyberpunk sold 15 million copies according to a 16 Dec 2020 dated article. This is JUST Witcher 3 - the whole Witcher series has sold over 50 million copies. So it would be rather early to say that CP2077 is somehow a greater commercial success, considering looming refunds, possible lawsuits etc. It still has a long way to go to become Witcher 3 sales target and the future is not looking bright right now.

Before yes..Those things have been pushed far into the future, most likely, IF they even survive and have enough money.

The amount of bugs, glitches and missing features was severe at release (yes both), and the console version here is still broken more or less from what I've heard (as in not quite there). That's the main point here.

And sorry, only tea here ;)

EDIT: And while the game might not be directly broken on the PC right now, it seriously lacks proper features, the AI is just one of many things missing. That alone will not make the game great, but it's a huge step in the right direction.

No, it means the NYT are still relying on the 'collate a few press releases, copy paste my twitter thread and knock off early for lunch' school of journalism.
Back up your games, GoG is going under.... what with the Devotion scandal, the Cyberpunk scandal... CDPR is finished.
