Howdy, GOG folks!

In a week it will be my birthday, so a giveaway is in order, as such thing is a part of community culture around here. ;)
Nothing fancy this time, just a small dose of sharing to mark the occasion.

The prizes are:
Cultures 1+2
Cultures: Northland + 8th Wonder of the World
Giants: Citizen Kabuto

Rules:
1. Everyone can enter, to do so just share some info about any culture or custom you deem to be interesting.
2. State what game(s) you want in order of preference. I'll try to distribute the prizes to 3 winners, but wouldn't discard the possibility of a single person winning more than one prize if their entry really bedazzle me.
3. I'll pick the winners myself on the 10th of February, announce them in this thread and leave their desired game(s) in their GOG inbox. Winners must redeem the game(s) on winning account, of course.

C L O S E D !

I'm in.
it is almost lunar new year.
i'm in for any of the prizes
Not in, but I do have an interesting one to mention, namely the Transgender Day of Remembrance.

IIRC, the way it typically works is as follows:
* Everyone gets a candle, and the candle is lit.
* The names of transgender people who were murdered during the past year are read, and with each name, people blow out their candles.
* I think the candles are lit again at the end of the ceremony, perhaps to provide a feeling of hope.
* At the end, everyone gets a rock as a memento. (People donate rocks for this purpose.)

I could also mention Purim, which I haven't participated in, but which involves the reading of the Book of Esther (from the old testament), which is interesting in that, to my understanding, it doesn't have any supernatural events in it (rather unusual for part of the bible); it also involves people dressing up in costumes. Also, people fast the day before.

Of course, I could also mention the Passover seder, which (unlike Purim) is done in private homes, and involves telling the story of how the Jewish people escaped from slavery in Egypt (Exodus). There's a lot of singing, and, of course, food, at these events.
I guess your birthday is February 10th, so happy almost birthday.
I'm in, I will participate for Giants: Citizen Kabuto.

The Cosquín Folk Festival: is a traditional festival in our country and one of the biggest in Latam, it lasts 10 days, and different competitions are held every night, music and dance where young amateurs compete to make themselves known and participate in live performance with professional artists, they do cultural exhibitions, bonfires on the riverbank, interact with native tribes who teach their language and culture in large exhibitions, sell differents traditional foods and organize parties that last until dawn, is really cheerful!!!
Not in, but happy birthday BranjoHello. I wish you a lot of time to enjoy gaming culture.
I'm in for
Cultures 1+2
Giants: Citizen Kabuto
Cultures: Northland + 8th Wonder of the World
I've been reading a book about geology and history of lands around the Middle East for school. I then have to write 6 sentences about what I read which can sometimes be hard. (like today is difficult) Anyways one ancient culture that was quite interesting was that of the Phoenicians, while that people group doesn't really exist today they used to be mastered of the seas and trade. Phoenicia was located above Canaan (Israel/Palestine) by the coast where mountains protected them from being taken over by Syria. The Phoenicians were masters of trade as I said, their craftsmanship was highly sought after. Products that the Phoenicians would make included golden treasures, purple cloths and ceder tree from Lebanon. The Phoenicians were also masters of the shipbuilding causing them to control the Mediterranean Sea and have many small colonies along the shore of Asia Minor and Cyprus. Unfortunately the Phoenicians faded over time because the Greek and Egyptian influences and people who lived among them around that time.

I wrote way more then I wanted to lol, but that chapter was quite informative.
