DebbieL: It's a nice idea, but... isn't there a danger that people will just add it to their wishlists and then not buy it? I've already seen people say they'll put it on their wishlists in order to 'help', even though they don't actually want the game. If the idea is to increase overall revenue from sales, this could potentially backfire on them.
I am sure they already count on that. I bet there are some market studies that say people are more likely to buy something that is already in their wishlists. Plus the added publicity and exposure. So the benefits will probably outweight losses.

HereForTheBeer: But my wishlist isn't public, soooo...

<confused>
As the moose said, just keep your wishlist private, but make sure to add it... you know you want to.

HereForTheBeer: @Grargar: I got a chuckle fromt the Top Secret reference.
I thought I was the only who saw the movie. ;)

It won't backfire. People are talking about it. It's all about making people aware. "Any news is good news", right?

You may well be right. Someone at RPG Codex pointed out that having a game wishlisted by lots of people helps with Steam's discovery algorithms (not sure about GOG) - and also that inXile may have been considering a price drop anyway, and simply decided to get some good publicity out of it. Either way, I'm a bit uncomfortable with wishlisting a title I have no intention of buying.

Alexim: Here is the wishlist, vote, vote!

ElTerprise: That's not necessary. They're talking about the user wishlists, not the community wishlist ;)

So if you want to see them fulfill these promises, just add the game to your personal wishlist
Thanks for clarifying. Voted and wishlisted anyway
They are not confident in the game and therefore pull a move that both attracts attention and possible lowers it to a more attractive price point to try and ensure it will atleast sell okayish.

Come on, it's a game with completely text-based combat with no animations, I doubt many people are interested in it anyway.

I don't know, if uttter shit games like Hello Neighbor could sell 500k copies before the end of 2017 then pretty much any game could if they had people shilling for it.

No interest, no wishlist... people already interested in game are already wishlisted it. Unless they want publicity, but isn't something like this already happened to another title without success?

TBH, I believe game will be a flop, and I believe they are aware of that as well.

I believe this is the case, yes.

Even the very first BT was animated. Which was a big deal since Wizardry (which BT was a "rip-off" from) still had black-and-white line graphics...
