I've just tried to pay for a game with my debit card but it keeps coming up wit hthis:

Something went wrong

HappyPunkPotato, Your payment attempt was declined by your bank because they require your confirmation, or additional information from you.
What should I do now?

Use a different payment source, if possible, like a different card, or PayPal.
Contact your bank's customer service center, to investigate this payment attempt in more detail. The issue most likely originated on their end.

I can't use a different payment source, what now?

If you wish to use the current card, make sure that:

The card's number, security code and expiration date are correct, and sufficient funds available on the card,
The card supports online, international payments (we're based in Europe), especially if it is a pre-paid/gift card,
The card's limit for online payments (number or total amount of funds) has not been exceeded.

If needed, your bank's customer service center can help you investigate the cause of this decline, and offer further assistance. When contacting your bank, you should use "GOG Limited" or "www.gog.com" as reference.
The issue is definitely not with my card and I've no idea why my bank would randomly block this payment. Is anyone else having trouble?

I used to have this problem.
I went to the bank and fixed it.

When it happened again, I switched Banks.

Why does everyone think this? It's not uncommon for banks to automatically block transactions outside of the country. And because other banks often do this to gog, your bank uses that data to also block gog. I have 2 cards that I've had blocked and frozen while trying to buy on gog.

Try paypal or whatever britbong version you guys have.

If it isn't the bank, then make sure wallet funds isn't ticked.

I've not purchase a game, but I have just added funds to my wallet (banking with a UK bank), and the transaction completed without a hitch, as it usually does.

Probably best to check with your bank in the morning, just to confirm everything is fine at their end...

Because my card worked fine (on a different site) a few hours ago, there's enough money in the account, I've bought stuff off GOG before and last time a webshop told me to contact my bank it was nothing to do with the bank.

But since I've not bought anything off GOG for a while perhaps the bank has blocked them for some reason. I've never come across that here before though, maybe it's more common in the States.

That happens constantly as a regular matter of course for all kinds of transactions with any kind of company.

There is no such thing as any bank that doesn't have rigorous fraud protection algorithms & staff who constantly block what they perceive to be suspicious transactions. Often times they are legitimate transactions (like in your case), but if your bank's algorithms and/or staff has any doubts, then they block it.

GOG cannot help you with this as they have zero control over your bank blocking transactions. You have to call your bank to sort that out, or use an alternative payment method like Paypal (presuming your bank won't block your Paypal transactions too, which it's possible they would if you use your bank's debit and/or credit card to fund Paypal transactions).

I have this issue too. With two distinct banks (one with a Mastercard, the other one with a Visa).
I asked my banks about this, they do not see any blocked payment on their side.
I asked GOG about this, and am still waiting for an answer,

In the meantime, I buy my games from other DRM-free stores.

No matter how this issue progresses, I am not going to fall back on PayPal or Google Pay. Either the payment issue is fixed, or I’m taking my money elsewhere.

Same here. I do wonder if the problem is something from Google being blocked in the background on my browser since there aren't lots of other people having this issue.

What do you mean? Mixing wallet funds with other payment methods is prominently advertised as a reason to use the feature.

Yeah, but mixing CC with wallet funds often goes wrong.

I had my debit card credentials saved for GOG store. For some reason my current bank wouldn't allow me to make more than 2 purchased per 1 calendar days (it was not a problem for Citibank for example) but no matter, one day I was placing my order and *something went wrong*, I tried again and again, and on the next day nothing changed, so I called my local bank and they said that GOG blocks my money and bank is not to blame, I then contacted Tech. Support and get a reply to try to clear my debit card and input the data manually, and it helped me.

If it's the case, that you have you debit card data saved, you may as well try it.
