DampSquib: If it isn't the bank, then make sure wallet funds isn't ticked.
You carn't do both.
Actually, you can as I've done just that.

When I had Might and Magic 9 refunded as my computer hated the game such that it wouldn't work, I had the purchase refunded as wallet funds as I had a bunch of games in my shopping cart, The wallet funds were applied first then the remainder was put on my credit card.

Swissy88: > The issue is definitely not with my card...

Why does everyone think this? It's not uncommon for banks to automatically block transactions outside of the country. And because other banks often do this to gog, your bank uses that data to also block gog. I have 2 cards that I've had blocked and frozen while trying to buy on gog.

Try paypal or whatever britbong version you guys have.
This is what happened to me. Asked my bank directly and they siad that their processor has a ban specifically on GOG because there was a lot of chargebacks and since GOG outside of the country, they took the path of least resistance. It was nice to pay by card directly because I can't stand paypal.

A bank worth their salt should block transactions that seem suspect.....and not based on seemingly arbitrary reasons. If it happens once, then fine.....one can(and should) whitelist Gog transactions and move on. If it happens again, the bank probably isn't doing their job very well.....and if it were me i'd consider changing banks(or at the very least complaining to bank support).

HappyPunkPotato: Because my card worked fine (on a different site) a few hours ago, there's enough money in the account, I've bought stuff off GOG before and last time a webshop told me to contact my bank it was nothing to do with the bank.

But since I've not bought anything off GOG for a while perhaps the bank has blocked them for some reason. I've never come across that here before though, maybe it's more common in the States.
As I said above to another user, i'd recommend contacting your bank and whitelisting any future purchases from Gog. Hopefully that should help.

Ancient-Red-Dragon: There is no such thing as any bank that doesn't have rigorous fraud protection algorithms & staff who constantly block what they perceive to be suspicious transactions. Often times they are legitimate transactions (like in your case), but if your bank's algorithms and/or staff has any doubts, then they block it.
The OP said they've bought from Gog before....given that, the bank's staff/computers shouldn't be blocking future Gog purchases.

If yer in the UK, Paysafecard should be easier to get there. Unless you are in the countryside of course.

rdit. Just make sure to add to wallet the entire amount. Otherwise they keep the difference of the purchase. As in, the ticket has 100 and you spend 20. They would keep 80. Add it all into wallet at one time or you get screwed over!

HappyPunkPotato: I do wonder if the problem is something from Google being blocked in the background on my browser since there aren't lots of other people having this issue.
I don’t think so. For some time you had to unblock Google Pay scripts to even allow the card payment form to show, but this has been fixed. I could do a couple payments with my second bank, with all Google resources blocked, before I started getting the « Something went wrong » message.

*GR nominates the 'something went wrong' message for most vague & unhelpful Gog message of 2021*
Made an account for my husband and tried to buy a game as a gift on there but now it's:
"Purchasing gifts via credit/debit card, PayPal and Wallet is not yet enabled on this account. These security measures are automatically lifted three months after completing purchases worth $10 / €7.99 / £7.99 / A$12.99 / 599 RUB / 63 DKK / 79 NOK / 81 SEK / 35.99 PLN / C$12.99 / 9.99 CHF / R$30.99 in total. Please keep in mind that you can always purchase gifts through another payment method. If you have any questions or concerns, our customer support team is ready to help."

So now I have to sign up for a whole new payment method. I really can't be arsed. It's like GOG don't want my money.

Maybe I'll see if I can find one of those Paysafecards at the shops.

Stolen cards were used to buy game as gifts so the keys could be resold. That's why you have to first spend a small amount on your own account, then enough time has to pass without the charges being disputed.
Yesterday I had a similar problem with Blik payment (Polish payment method) when I was trying to buy a gift code. I guess it was only temporary because after a few minutes everything went back to normal.

Again, make certain its all dumped into wallet of the account on gog you intend to buy games for. As in your husbands wallet. Otherwise new account cant gift items. Plus you dont want to lost money buying 1 item as they take the difference.
Well it's let me add money to my wallet using my card and I've paid with that! Don't know if it was a temporary glitch or if there's a difference in the way game and wallet purchases are handled. Thanks for the input everyone! :-D
Glad you got it sorted...

Beware, I had the same experience the first time I tried to add some money to my GOG wallet…
But the second time: « Something went wrong ».
