UPDATE: Heads up! There are 24h left, so now is the time to take advantage of the amazing deals and upgrade your collections. Eyes on the price, Boo, eyes on the price!

Years ago, the Baldur's Gate series changed the way we look at gaming and the scope of what was considered possible. Even now, the legacy continues through the Enhanced Editions – thanks to the hard work and years of updates to keep the inimitable Infinity Engine living on.

It's the work on the Enhanced Editions that made Siege of Dragonspear possible – the just-released, massive expansion to the timeless classic, available only for Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition.

"The team at Beamdog was able to breathe a new life into the Infinity Engine classics." says Greg Tito, Communications Director for Dungeons & Dragons "We're proud to recognize their excellent work in offering the best possible experience and support for these legendary titles. We want these to become the definitive editions – featuring both the enhanced and classic versions of the games."

On April 29, Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition, Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition, and Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition will be expanded to include the classic versions – each becoming the Definitive Edition Bundle and not available for purchase separately. If you already own the classics on GOG.com, the games currently on your shelf won't be affected.

"We're excited to take our commitment and support to Baldur's Gate and GOG fans to the next level and humbled to work with such great partners. The Definitive Edition Bundle will give every Baldur's Gate fan what they're looking for" – concludes Cameron Tofer, Beamdog COO.

In the near future, we're also looking forward to full GOG Galaxy support for achievements in Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition, Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition, and Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition – as well as in the Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear expansion.

Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition will be 75% off until April 4 11:59 PM PDT / April 5 2:59 AM EDT/ 7:59 BST and 60% off until April 29 10:59 AM PDT / 1:59 PM EDT / 18:59 BST. The 60% discount for Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition, and Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition until April 29 10:59 AM PDT / 1:59 PM EDT / 18:59 BST. The 85% discount for owners of the original saga will last until April 29 10:59 AM PDT / 1:59 PM EDT / 18:59 BST.

Klumpen0815: Tried it some years ago and it was quite buggy.
Has it improved? I see that it still hasn't reached v1.0 and it doesn't seem as though people are still working on it (probably due to the new official ports).
I've no idea, haven't been messing around with it for a long time, and being involved in it was even longer ago.

Thanks GOG!

I've been waiting for a good sale on the EE (and missed out on the insomnia sale.) Already bought the games.

I have to say though, that I agree with the majority in saying that bundling the classic and the Enhanced Editions as one is a mistake. In my opinion, leaving the products separated provides more options for the clients and leaves GOG more transparent. It almost feels like you are manoeuvring the clients into a more expensive option.

You should reconsider this decision and perhaps offer a solution similar to what you are offering with Wasteland / Wasteland 2 where the classics will be automatically bundled with the Enhanced Edition, but the option to buy only the classic versions remains.

I remember when you guys announced Baldur's Gate and stated that you guys had reached what was probably your biggest goal ever in GOG. It seems sad to see you guys give up on that dream.
Bought, although I'm not happy about removing the old games from being sold independently.

4th time I buy the same games, (5th for BG2) :P
The download link for the Mac version of Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition is broken. :(

Works fine for me. Maybe you could try refreshing your account?

sunshinecorp: ...CURRENT OWNERS of the ORIGINAL games.

InfraSuperman: ...only for people who own the classic versions of those games already.
I have the original versions, that's why I was trying to clarify that.

I guess a new promo page with a countdown for 25 days will start once the 75% off for BG 1: EE expires in three days. Three days from now BG1:EE BG2:EE and IWD:EE will be only 60% off. At least that's what I understand from the OP.

I found the problem. I chose "german" on the download side. Somehow the link doesn't work if you choose german but if you choose "english" it works. I guess, the installer is the same for all languages, no matter which language you choose for downloading. So no problem.
Thanks anyway.
Awesome! Was surprised to see Icewind Dale EE for only 2.99. What a steal. I own all the original, non-enhanced versions here and the Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 EE's on Steam, but I might have to re-buy those to have them here too at this price. I hadn't even heard of an expansion for Baldur's Gate in the works, so that's cool news too! Thanks GOG!
Okay, let me know if I get it.
First they make the games next to impossible to get in the Insomnia sale, with the lowest appearing rate in the whole promo, skippy time slots and absurdly small numbers.
Then a week after they make the games CHEAPER for EVERYONE if you already own the original games (which is 95% of the people that were looking for it).
Am I right?
Well, isn't this technically trolling?

P.S. I was pissed off first, now I'm GLAD I missed it, since I was able to trade a copy of a freebie for the bundle.
If I stayed awake for hours and bought it during insomnia I'd be furious now.

Kinda need the BG2:EE 2.0 patch in order to import characters from the expansion. Hopefully it shows up Monday :)

[EDIT] Just checked my library. No change log update and still says Gog-1 for the installer. No update as of yet.

Are there any mods available for the enhanced editions?
Incredibly cool.

InfraSuperman: … taking any kind of choice away from the customers and forcing the Enhanced Editions on those who only want the classics is fucking awful.
Amen.

Vitek: You are not going to sell your 2nd, 6th and 12th bestselling game ever anymore. That's... interesting... decision.
To say the least.

eiii: At least they do not make the original versions completely unavailable as other publishers do it.
True, I just hope the original versions will be treated equally to the enhanced ones, that is as fully supported non-bonus material. I did read the Greg Tito quote but I remain quite wary of such reassuring marketing statements.

You're absolutely right... and regarding your last comment I’d say that’s exactly what they’re doing.
Not interested in the enhanced editions rip wishlist games
baldurs gate
icewind dale complete
baldurs gate 2 complete

There are some games i prefer to have the originals only
