UPDATE: Heads up! There are 24h left, so now is the time to take advantage of the amazing deals and upgrade your collections. Eyes on the price, Boo, eyes on the price!

Years ago, the Baldur's Gate series changed the way we look at gaming and the scope of what was considered possible. Even now, the legacy continues through the Enhanced Editions – thanks to the hard work and years of updates to keep the inimitable Infinity Engine living on.

It's the work on the Enhanced Editions that made Siege of Dragonspear possible – the just-released, massive expansion to the timeless classic, available only for Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition.

"The team at Beamdog was able to breathe a new life into the Infinity Engine classics." says Greg Tito, Communications Director for Dungeons & Dragons "We're proud to recognize their excellent work in offering the best possible experience and support for these legendary titles. We want these to become the definitive editions – featuring both the enhanced and classic versions of the games."

On April 29, Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition, Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition, and Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition will be expanded to include the classic versions – each becoming the Definitive Edition Bundle and not available for purchase separately. If you already own the classics on GOG.com, the games currently on your shelf won't be affected.

"We're excited to take our commitment and support to Baldur's Gate and GOG fans to the next level and humbled to work with such great partners. The Definitive Edition Bundle will give every Baldur's Gate fan what they're looking for" – concludes Cameron Tofer, Beamdog COO.

In the near future, we're also looking forward to full GOG Galaxy support for achievements in Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition, Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition, and Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition – as well as in the Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear expansion.

Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition will be 75% off until April 4 11:59 PM PDT / April 5 2:59 AM EDT/ 7:59 BST and 60% off until April 29 10:59 AM PDT / 1:59 PM EDT / 18:59 BST. The 60% discount for Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition, and Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition until April 29 10:59 AM PDT / 1:59 PM EDT / 18:59 BST. The 85% discount for owners of the original saga will last until April 29 10:59 AM PDT / 1:59 PM EDT / 18:59 BST.

Definitive Edition? Definitely not!

Sigh... yet another "we know better what's good for you (and give us your monies)" dev...

Mickelagoz: Does anybody now if you get the classics even if you bought the Enhanced Editions before?
So far I haven't seen anything about it, but really hoping you get them even if you bought them before.
In the article/OP they say:

On April 29, Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition, Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition, and Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition will be expanded to include the classic versions – each becoming the Definitive Edition Bundle and not available for purchase separately.
As you see, nothing is mentioned about when you bought them. So yes, if you have the Enhanced Editions here on GOG (never mind if you got them from this sale or not) they should be updated with the classics come April 29. I myself don't care much about this, since I prefer the Enhanced Editions, but for those who do, they will be included.

Yeah, i kinda thought so, but it wasn't really that clear, but thanks for the help

trentonlf: Support stepped up. They credited me back my purchase from the insomnia sale and I was able to buy the games at a better discount :-)

Atombomb2097: I've also contacted them, they haven't even replied. Do you need to contact them in a "certain way" to receive an answer in a timely manner?
I got my request in before the weekend started, support is not around on weekends and that could be why you have not heard from them. I used the link under support for overcharge on an order. My order actually wasn't listed so I included the order number in the message I sent them with a request for a refund or credit so I could purchase the bundle at a cheaper discount.
Ok Say I bite,
and buy the EE's @ 85%, does this mean even though I have the original ones, on the 29th they will remove my originals and add them inside the EE.

I ask this because I don't wan't to have the option to install and mod the originals removed. and if that is the case I will not buy and just deal with not having the EE's

So what I want is.

EE Definitive
and my Original set on my GOG account at the same time.

because from reading the OP the only way to keep the Original BGT on your account is to not purchase the EE.

Is this correct?

Cheers.

"If you already own the classics on GOG.com, the games currently on your shelf won't be affected."

Also, I assume that, for everyone else, it'll simply behave as any other bundled game - ie. they'll be separate entries on your shelf, and thus be completely stand-alone installers, just as they are now.

thank's for the quick reply.

I guess I read that as "if you only have..."

An easy mistake to make when scanning over the post quickly.

really I thought it would be an option inside the game, much like the homeworld remastered collection?

pic related.

I already own the classic games, but why Beamdog wants to force people to buy their """""ENHANCED""""" editions if they just want to ejoy some decent rpgs? I mean, I do expect the price tag to go down on the EEs, because they will be charging double for a game that you can buy for 10 bucks. That's not only unfair, that's actually kind of gross.

They could be charging three times as much now, since you get "two" games in one package, the original and the "enhanced" one costing twice as much. :P

If you're not convinced your "enhanced" product is superior and popular enough to sell on its own, the next best thing is to remove the competition or hold it hostage in a bundle. ;)

yeah, bundling them makes no sense. Beamdog wasn't involved in the creation of the games, so it's like they want to take credit from something they never did. I wonder if there's any way to prevent this. For me, this is as bad as when games are removed from GOG.

HunchBluntley: The Enhanced Editions feature many new quests and characters, all from My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic.

Emachine9643: Thank you

...
To be serious, here are some new/improved features touted on the first EE's gamecard:
- New Adventure: The Black Pits
- New Character: Dorn Il-Khan
- New Character: Neera the Wild Mage
- New Character: Rasaad yn Bashir
- A new collection of player character voice sets
- Native support for high-resolution widescreen displays
- Over 400 improvements to the original game
- Improved multiplayer support with connectivity between all platforms
The other two are somewhat similarly expanded, I believe (though I can't speak to the quality of any of these additions and changes, as I haven't played any of the EEs).

trentonlf: support is not around on weekends
They should be. The recent-ish job opening for support personnel said one would be required to work 4 week days from the office, and 1 weekend day either from office or home. So they are stepping up on their support schedule, but not sure if they've made the full transition yet or not.

No. Just no! Hands down from the originals! They are superior and they are not ridden with all kind of garbage and scum npc characters, like how the latest EE entry!

Don't force people wanting to play a good old game, to go through the trash that EEs are! This is a one way ticket to BURY the entire BG saga FOREVER, COMPLETELY! Can't you read the signs and the atmosphere?

GoG, you should deny that, if you can.

Also, make sure to allow the in-game murdering of the Dragonspear expansion npcs to not cause reputation loss or in-game impact whatsoever, or even better reward you with some bonus! Dragonspear seems the best game to try the good old BG1 trick; 1) Raise huge army of summons 2) Make them attack entire area 3) Kill everyone in it. And put the Flaming Fist to the place of those trash npcs that the sun never shines!
