The King of Fighters 2003 works on Win 7 after some tinkering.
straight up right after the installation it fails to start asking for XInput1_4.dll.
if you go to its directory you'll see a custom XInput1_3.dll (dunno what did it forget there but oh well).
rename it to XInput1_4.dll, and the game will launch and work flawlessly. but will crash on exiting if was running fullscreen.
switching to the windowed mode fixes it.
will look more into it.

Eidskogian: Does anyone know if Days Gone, newly on GOG, runs on Win 7 despite the Win10 stated requirement?
I had no problem running it on win 7.
"Space Prison" is OK on Win7
"USC: Counterforce" is OK too
Newly released game ~ "Starcom Nexus: Unknown Space"

Tested on win7pro, galaxy install ~ Locked up during "loading...." screen.

FIX found on steam forum:

Delete this file (or move it elsewhere) ~ AkSoundEngine.dll ~ located here:
\your GoG library folder\Starcom Unknown Space\Starcom Unknown Space_Data\Plugins\x86_64\

Game now loads to menu & seems to be all ok. Audio effects still working, but NO music.

Happy gaming to all.

Volgarr the Viking II - version 1.1 - is not launching on my Windows 7 machine. GOG support stated that they tested it on Windows 11 where it works fine. Seems the update broke the Windows 7 compatibility.

"Breachway" run on win 7
"Potion Tycoon" is OK on Win 7
Love Rhythm works fine on Windows 7.

Tested 2.0.1versionH18 for both censored and uncensored version.
I tested Metal Slug 4 a while ago on Windows 7, and it didn't work, it requires a dll that only exists on Windows 10. It's a shame... MS 4's requirements are low, it even uses DX9. I can't understand developer decision to release only for Windows 10.

Its easy if one thinks of the fact Windows 7 end of life for regular windows 7 users was 2020 and the last remaining version that was supported was The version intended for point-of-sale devices, ended support in 2023 .
. Yet now its not seen as really worth it as most of the bigger game storefronts don't support anything below Windows 10 .. that and many people who still use windows iether have upgraded to 10 and plan to stick with it as a result for quite some time or they have upgraded to windows 11 ..But ya about the only games you will find being made with support for older window operating systems anymore is indie games and even indie game devs are more and more dropping the older windows operating system support for varies reasons

Well, I just reported it to let everyone know. On my side, I'm using the latest version of PPSSPP which is compatible with Windows 7, and playing MS 4 through Metal Slug Anthology, by far this is the best way to play these games on the PC.
