Wait a sec...I can't believe no one has mentioned Day of the Tentacle with all the toxic waste from Dr. Fred's lab being responsible for spawning evil Purple Tentacle.

Gonen32: GOG, I'm disappointed.

No one has mentioned the Fallout series ?

drealmer7: Gonen, I'm disappointed.

No one has taught you to read? (all in fun! not trying to be a dick!)

sunshinecorp: The Fallout series.
The real one (Fallout 1,2,Tactics and New Vegas).

drealmer7: NV does not belong here. Not even close.
I ctrl+f'd it to be sure no one has mentioned it and it didn't showed anything. Strange.

Gonen32: Strange.
It's the GOG forums, not so strange.

drealmer7: Hmmm, there's lots of ethical dilemmas in the Fallout games and I find them very thought provoking, but, I understand what you're going for.

How much worse can it get? You mean like mutants taking over? Or divisive factions STILL not learning to put aside differences and work together because that is the only way to not destroy each other and the precious earth?
The first thing that comes to mind when I hear or read "Fallout" are huge wastelands. This is what my "How much worse can it get?" was referring to. But you got some very good points too with mutants and denunciations (people unable to communicate with each other in a non-oppressing way).

Well.

I will take my time looking into some of the suggestions you guys made, thank you all again. In my opinion, this is a niche setting and I thought as much before starting this topic. There may be a lot of games with some tech-critical "elements" here and there but only few are centered around this in the sense of "technology can change our lives in a very drastical way" or that tackle the question how far we want to go with technological advancements. And I don't quite understand why in a time of mass media, surveillance and big data with a medium like video games that is almost predestined for this kind of things.

There are similar mysterys for me, like why did it take so long for someone to make a game from the persepective of someone with perception disorder or some kind of "mental illness" (Hellblade) Or why is there almost no game at all about occidental philosophy or buddhist mystics (not about occidental philosophy from a historical point of view of course, but some of the ideas that were discussed back then)? There is a whole lot more to find than just your "it was all just a dream / hallucination" or "everything is predetermined and free will is just an illusion" kind of thing (a good example would be "attention (span)" or "unconciousness" or why "religion" is still a thing in the 21st century and not just for idiots). For the first time, "we" can visualize and animate almost everything that we can think of. And we visualize what? Landscapes, corridors, weapons and cars.
