GreasyDogMeat: Also agree about FTL. Well, kind of. MOST of the game I love but that friggin' final fight had me uninstall after around 20 tries at it.
Perhaps the real issue is that FTL has permadeath? Like Don't Starve or Project Zomboid.
It takes a while to understand and adopt this system, in the end, it solves balancing problems, which most of classic save-load games experience.
One can easily make a save-load him/herself though by backing up the files manually, the game does not disallow this cheating per se, but in the end, you might not like the outcome... I did try that and it was my outcome. The most thing which permadeath kills is, IMHO, the
gaming addiction - the game becomes game, there is no "investment", "ho hard feelings", which is actually great. The mechanism is completely opposite in nature to "farming" and "character building" from RPGs (which dopamine mechanism is more addictive than alcohol). But it only works if the difficulty is correct.
heartburnron: STALKER - Shadow of Chernobyl - got all the way through it but can't get past the nuclear countdown at the end.
Really? Just run run run, by the road and then - along the CPP walls, run through the doors and down the ladder. Thats it.
