I love GOG because (1) I'm mainly a retro-ish gamer (2) I enjoy single player games just as much, if not more, than multiplayer games. This makes GOG a great place for me.

Other gamers I meet though, like friends at university, don't see the point of GOG. They like graphics. They like multiplayer. They have large libraries on Steam, and I've quit Steam. They just don't see a reason to join GOG.

Anyway, what games do you think help sell GOG to well... casual players that prefer stuff like that?

Easy, cut their internet connectivity and ask them, what are they gonna play now ;)

(and yes I couldn't resist posting it, THAT was too much off an invitation)

Eh...if they don't like single-player games, this is kind of a bad place to be.

Now, before you people start chewing me out for dissing The Almighty GOG, hear me out:
The whole point of GOG is that they're supposed to be DRM-free all the time. A lot of people consider forced multiplayer or otherwise multiplayer-only games to be DRM since they require you to be online, so...they simply don't come here.

If you want to convince your friends to join GOG, the best argument you can use is the lack of DRM.
If they don't care about DRM, I'd say the only thing you've got going to pitch is the amount of goodies that usually get included with each game.
Other than that, Steam is honestly the best alternative as far as sheer choice range and client capability goes.

....the sad part is, I can't tell whether this is a serious or a sarcastic comment.

Yeah, I can safely say they don't care about DRM.

I have one friend that has several clients installed. SEVERAL. They include: Steam, Battle.net, Origin, UPlay.

I tell him "have you no shame, man!?"

Yeah not a good idea unless they want their posts to be downvoted like crazy.

They don't understand that Ubi makes Uplsy games, Valve makes Steam games, EA makes Origin games...so GOG needs to make GOG games. But their vision is as small as the userbase that held them back all of these years. "Oh I've bought 1000 games here and as an oldtimer if GOG does this then I'm leaving!" - pretty much every post on any update they used to do. Then they stopped posting and those elitist farts left the forum/community to circlejerk each other elsewhere anyway.

TLDR: Don't expect GOG to increase in popularity anytime soon. :P

In that case, I'd say you're pretty much stuck.

My internet got cut on Friday by roadworks, and I played Train Valley and Delver on Steam...

(I had intended to start on Soul Reaver 2 here on gOg, but I couldn't as I had not downloaded it earlier)

Sorry to hear, hope you will have it back quick!

But ever tried to play an MP without internet ;) Unless local, but again without steam being able to connect to the servers nothing you can do either :O

um... no.... I do not play MP games, but I guess it is fairly difficult to play a multiplayer game online if you are not...ummm... online...

I wonder, how do you play an online multiplayer game on gOg without net connection?

Some games DO have LAN connectivity, so you can play with a local LAN on two computers, so the good old way ;)

I know nowadays an unheard concept, being in the same room ;)

you do realise that the same apply for Steam games with LAN connection?

edit - what I am tying to say is - if you want people to start using gOg, this is a pretty silly argument.

If they are not bound to the steam API, yes. ;)
