Unfortunately most of my friends don't play computer games any more, and the few who do either switched to consoles or are the kind of morons who don't care about DRM or anything really, and they gladly eat-up any crap Steam throws their way. I don't bother to preach, to each his own.

8BitGinno: Yeah, I can safely say they don't care about DRM.

I have one friend that has several clients installed. SEVERAL. They include: Steam, Battle.net, Origin, UPlay.

I tell him "have you no shame, man!?"

amok: and? is there a rule saying "thou shalt not have more than one client installed at a given time!"

on this computer right now I got:

Galaxy
Steam
Origin
UPlay
Ich.io client
Big Fish client
WildTangent
and some other smaller thingies...

installed, and instead of imploding, it it just allows me to play the games I want to play, which includes gOg games.

I find this attitude to be a bit condescending and a bit elitist, to be honest. It is just software, for crying out loud.
Have you no shame, man?

You're used goods now! Every one of those companies play thing!
Y'know, forget getting friends on GOG, I just want to know how OP gets friends in general.
There's not much you can do, GOG simply can't offer what they enjoy and prioritize in gaming, especially when it comes to modern triple-a games. Sure we have the Witcher 3, Shadow Warrior 2, No Man's Sky and so on .... but compared to the vast libraries at Steam & Co. we don't have that many of these games. So your friends would quickly run out of games to play on GOG.

Most gamers today will simply 'go where the games are': if you want to play Dark Souls on PC the only place to go is Steam, if you want to play Destiny you'll have to get a console first, if you want to play WoW you have to sign up for Battle.net, if your priority is DRM-free gaming you have to use GOG or similar, and so it goes on.

For me personally, GOG simply can't cater to all my gaming interests. For example, you can't get racing sims like MotoGP and RaceRoom on GOG, so if I really want to play these games I will have to go elsewhere. I think most gamers reason in the same way.

If GOG would offer the same types of games as those your friends enjoy on Steam it would be easier to convince them. Otherwise you may just have to wait until their taste in games change. Multiplayer gaming is more or less made for a college-type environment. Once your friends leave this environment they might become more open to single-player gaming, who knows.

Having a pc that can play games helps you keep them. :p
