I played acoustic and electric guitars during the 90's. Back then, I only knew some chords and relied on tabs. I'm curious how I would play now that I have some knowledge in music theory (way easier to learn with a synth).

I play guitar on a "camp fire" level.

I have an acoustic guitar that I love. I taught myself to play it to some basic extent some years ago but then work, family and other stuff happened that prevent me from invest the time I would like into it. I really want to get back to it and try to get at least "camp fire" level good at it :)

At some point I was able to play Everlast's "What it's like" in a satisfactory manner which was one of my lifelong dreams!

I'm able to play the guitar to some degree but only @ amateur lvl. It's a past-time hobby that i like but i hardly have the time to do it now so while it's something i used to do more of, it's also something i wish to do more of if & when i have the time.

I only play my classical guitar alone @ home but given the chance i wun mind playing with friends together somewhere outside as well.

I started off learning classical guitar but ventured into pop & a little bit of rock when i'm in my teens. While i wun say i'm proficent in any way, i'm still able to strum most basic chords & play a few songs that i memorize by heart so i guess i ain't too bad. Haha. :)

I can play a bit. I taught myself to play years ago (35 or so years ago) and played a lot for about 7 or 8 years. Fell off after that and now that I'm in my 50s, I find the lack of playing over the past couple decades has led to stiff fingers and a lot of fumbling. I still know a number of songs though, and I pick up the guitar and play every now and then. I have an old Fender acoustic with an impressively warped neck. I find it relaxing and enjoyable, but I'm still not very good at it.

How ironic, whenever I play guitar people go tell me to stand in the camp fire.

I have been playing guitar since 1996 (yes, 20 years now, and mostly electric guitar) and like to think that I do it quite well. Though I can play some solos (the one I would designate as being the hardest is the solo of "And Justice for All"), I have focused on rhythm guitar because I've only ever been in a band once, aside from jams, and I don't find playing lead guitar alone to be near as great as rhythm guitar (and I don't have the dedication to sit down and learn complicated solos anymore).

Back then I started with Metallica, Megadeth, Pantera and co. (bought tabs, played along and it went quite well), always been a metalhead anyway (although I have always loved good punk rock too, which is what I mostly play now, that energy and feeling that comes with it, priceless).

Just don't end up like Billy John ;-)

I play guitar to both degrees. :) Been playing since 1986, roughly 30 years. Quite proficient. Absolutely, very much so. For me it's a passtime both from the past, the present and also for the future. Definitely, you can never play too much guitar. Yes, when I started out in 1986 I played 4 to 6 hours per day for about 6 years straight, then after that my time was divided with college and various other things. Nowadays I play often enough but would always love to play more. No, not currently. Not the best city for that, too much bandinitis here, too many musicians that aren't serious about music but are much more serious about substance abuse and making excuses. On the odd occasion informally with company, and more rarely a jam session or a bar jam night. Gibson SG-62

Nice, AC/DC is my all time favourite band, I'm a massive fan. That's actually why I own the SG-62 and it's my favourite guitar. :)

Is that an SG-61 reissue on the chair in the left of your photo? It looks like a 61 or 62 reissue.

Was hard to tell from the photo but actually I just noticed the nut which looks more like my G400 as the SGs all have bone nuts I believe. :)

I play in a band. we do funk and R&B covers. We get the gigs because every other band around here is rock or metal, and even though those are genres I'm more comfortable playing, I think I've become a better guitarist from playing outside of my comfort zone.

92 Sunburst Fender Strat with a rosewood fret board, all original pickups and some very pretty smiley face stickers as well as a few patches of duct tape. Oh, and a "Hear No Evil, See No Evil, Speak No Evil Skulls" strap. :D

I just realized that because of of "Craft the World" I haven't picked the damn thing up in a week. :P
