Hello friends. Huge retro gaming fan here, and I'm currently working with a small indie studio on a King's Quest/Maniac Mansion style game. Super excited about it and we just launched our kickstarter. The game is called Rite of Passage.

Would love to hear any and all feedback

Hello, pal. Huge puzzle fan here, I'm currently working with a new user on a Hello from StrandedSail/Hello from Zeogold style post. Super excited about it and I just posted it now.

Joking aside, it would help if I had some sort of link to what you were talking about. You said your Kickstarter went live, I can't find any such thing from a Google search.

Edit: Oh, right, new accounts can't post links. Forgot about that. Ignore me.

Yea I just spent like ten minutes trying to post the link and not realizing why it wasn't working. I don't get any results from a google search either, but it's my top result on a kickstarter search.

Nevermind, I found you.

Looks interesting, I dig the art style. Reminds me of Another World. I'm kinda disappointed you just did a copy-paste job for the OP, though. :P

Edit: I don't know much about game development, but....isn't hoping for $40,000 to develop the full game (all episodes) kinda...steep?

Yea, you're right. My wording was a bit unclear. The full first "story" really would be told in Episodes 1 and 2, with episodes 3 and 4 being kind of like sequels. I'm going to update the verbiage now to try and reflect that more clearly. Thanks for the feedback

Also, Another World is literally my favorite game of all time. Maybe second favorite behind Ico.

It looks nice. Kickstaters seems to be quite risky though judging from the posts on here about not getting xyz or things not being done as said, so I would only wait until post release. Also that kickstarted only shows steam downloads. Is there no gog release?

Someone else asked me the same question about a GOG release. I am going to research that idea first thing tomorrow and then update the kickstarter. We're definitely interested in doing so.
Rite of Passage ?

It sounds familiar .

Oh , wait . I know where i saw it : https://www.bigfishgames.com/games/search/?search=Rite+of+Passage+&type=pc
Looks interesting plus you mentioned some of my favorite adventures back in the day and they still are today.
Although just like zeogold said $40.000 is a bit steep and not to meddle or anything since it's your project but
wouldn't it make more sense to make the $10.000 goal for episode 2 and the $40.000 for the mobile ports?

Anyway I hope you manage to get it on GOG if you reach you're goal and will keep an eye on your project.

I hope you do get to make the game you want to make and welcome to the GOG community :)
The big issue for me and I would guess quite a few other GOG community members is that there's no mention of a DRM-free release (not necessarily GOG, but any DRM-free release). Only Steam and mobile.

A smaller issue - I can't help but feel that the LucasArts games are mentioned only to get people who liked them on board. At least from the trailer this doesn't look or feel anything like Day of the Tentacle or Monkey Island. If you're gonna name drop beloved titles like that, you should have something to show to back it up.

I asked about DRM-free, and GOG releases through the Kickstarter campaign, by PM.
If it's confirmed, I will definitely back it. ( :

StrandedSail: a King's Quest/Maniac Mansion style game
So... a medieval knight goes to a creepy old house run by a mad scientist, in order to find mystical treasures for his king, along with some missing high school students?

Sounds great! I'm in!
Point and click adventure! Yes please.
