Hello
I need to buy a new laptop and I found this one which may be suitable for games too. Should I buy it? Do you guys think it meets all the requirements for playing (games, new games especially)? I'm no real expert when it comes to these kind of things :)
Thank you

I saw Lenovo and went eeewwww, hell no.
I have this one:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Acer-Predator-Helios-GeForce-Keyboard/dp/B06Y4GZS9C
It's a fantastic laptop.

Asus would have been my second choice.

I would never recommend lenovo.

Hey, thanks for your reply.
You say no to lenovo because of its aesthetic? I'm asking coz in terms of specs I don't see much of difference, if any, between the two. What's wrong with this lenovo specifically? Thanks
Not much options on your Amazon. I dont know about other stores in Italy, maybe they have better prices and selection of laptops.

I believe they have a particular reputation for cheapness (quality wise, not price wise though that too).

Yes, that's part of it. There was also the scandal with the pre-installed spyware or backdoor. Also, if you look for "gaming" laptops you will not find Lenovo on the list.

For instance. Whilst I wouldn't recommend Alienware (double price for like product) or dell, any on that list would be preffered to Lenovo.

They always seem to be under the "cheap work laptop" banner, and it's not just the parts, but how they fit together, cooling etc. Not much point getting a top notch graphics card if your processor bottlenecks it, or the screen can't refresh quick enough.

1050€.

but brand aside, would you call that configuration acceptable for playing current pc games? again... games like assassin's creed origins, or the upcoming AC odyssey and darksiders 3

thanks
Is it urgent? I would wait for laptops with the new 2xxx series from Nvidia. They should offer a better performance (or you might find a current gen with a better deal).
As for the 1060, it's ok, but the 1070 would be clearly better, for more info see here:

It's okay price for what it offers. You can save some money if you wait for Black Friday sales. If you are in a hurry you can go for it, it will play all current and upcoming games without a problem.

Have you considered buying desktop pc instead of laptop?
As a laptop fan and user, I agree that desktops are in 90% of the cases a better choice (for all who don't need a laptop's mobility). I do use my laptop away from home that's why I have one, but I'm also thinking about investing in some desktop again at some point (actually I have one, 3rd gen i5, gathering dust, it just needs a decent GPU).

yep, thought about it but I need a laptop (asap and within my current budget) for mixed usage. not mainly for games. I just want to have the chance to play the games I like in a decent/good way. not expecting over the top perfomance :)
Thanks again for the tip buddy

I will do the same when I have enough extra-euros to spend :)))
