- Too much of an investment;
- They're stuck with the Galaxy integration (and if galaxy is still on beta... well, you get the point);
- They don't know how to transfer gog forum content to a new forum.

They've had like 7 or so years to figure something out, so they have no excuses. Company's also making lots of money, so they could employ a few extra guys to deal with this already.

Because they don't care, the forum is a second thought, why invest money into something that won't generate enough money to recoup the investment? Hell, sometimes they don't even deliver the rewards from their contests and when someone asks about it... silence.

Then you have stuff like this thread happening, people get upset, blue ones apologize, they make some jokes and everything goes back to normal... But the underlying problem remains, but shhhhhhhhhh, let's not talk about it.

Perhaps. But, I'm very much surprised that nobody has taken an interest in squashing the known scammers troll thread. At best it just serves as a scoreboard for trolls and at worse it chases away new members that are substantially more likely to be accused of being forum alts than regulars.

I'd say the biggest problem with gaining new members right now are the predator alts. How many people are going to use these forums after they have been scammed?

I think TinyE's questionable hygiene has more to do with scarring new members away. After all, he does live in the woods of the frozen north. I doubt he gets around to bathing very often.

Speaking of hygiene. When I got that PM yesterday I had just gotten back from five hours at the dentist. I guess that's what dental health gets you. :P

Firebrand9: No it's not. That's not the issue. I guess this is something that only a programmer or sysadmin would understand. I've tried to explain this before and the person said the same thing. The system I'm proposing handles this, no problem.

Here's the dichotomy :
- Different logins, same IP -> Sockpuppet
- Different IP's -> Same Login -> Person logging in from different site.

Dynamic IP's aren't as dynamic as you think btw. Check your external IP sometime and track it. This is day one networking knowledge.
Different logins, same IP -> same household, friend's home, neighbour, public place, workplace, college, etc.

I have a degree in CS, not that it matters, as I care about wether something is true, not the epeen size of who says it.
