JMich: Ah, the story of tinyE and epidurals. That is what you meant, right?
Can you tell the one about the suppositories?

Well, people were crying how 'we need moderation'... it always backfires, just a matter of how soon you or someone you care about gets caught into the wrongthink zone. (Not aimed at OP, in general, obviously I'm against bans/censoring of any sorts).

Oh and I think swearing in caps is blocked, not swearing in general - "fucking web design"

Actually half wrong, there's a way to bypass the censorship (don't know how), you can't swear in caps since it was implemented when gog instead of solving the problems of the community decided to censor the title of the thread because... reasons.

The community self-moderates (for the most part as we see here). What I'm calling for is a sockpuppet prevention system; verification of each IP that attempts login against that IP having *already* been logged in. If another account from the same IP is detected, the account gets flagged as a sockpuppet. Granted, proxies could allow this to be bypassed, but it'd at least increase the difficulty enough to send these people after lower-hanging fruit. I've seen this implemented on other sites to great effect.

tinyE: GOG has notified me to cease and desist from my conduct in here.

Well I'm not going to apologize for defending myself against scammers leeches and the occasional turd who comes in to wish me I hadn't beaten cancer, so my time in here may be short.

I guess the assholes win this one. I hope all those who reported me like having people like tauto and tort running the place. :D
Seriously if you got warned, this just shows the GOG staff spend minimal time actually browsing the forums.
That blows! Don't take our tinyE away, gog!

It's a problem to people like me on dynamic ISPs, as well as those connecting from public IPs/colleges/from work etc.

I'm not saying they shouldn't do some form of checking, and clearly a person with hundreds of games/transactions can be excluded from sockpuppet checks, just that it could end up with making bigger problem than the one its supposed to solve if not done very carefully. And gog's site updates/management so far doesn't give me too much confidence.
