Join us in Cologne on Thursday, August 14!

GamesCom Cologne is the biggest European games industry show and we know that many of you will be attending. We'd love to take this chance to meet you! Alas, we think that the middle of a busy trade show is not the best place to hang out with you, dear Goggers. We'd like to meet you in a more friendly venue and spend some time chatting, sharing a few beers, and playing some games in a relaxed atmosphere of a gamer-friendly pub. So, we'd like to heartily invite you to the GOG.com Party that will be taking place on Thursday, August 14, from 5:00PM to 10:00PM local time, in one of the local pubs not far from where the GamesCom main show will be located.

We've got 70 open spots. To reserve yours, contact us at party@gog.com and give us your full name and the GOG.com username (or usernames, if you're bringing a friend) and the time we can expect your arrival. We'll ask you to RSVP before the event, to make sure you didn't change your mind about attending. We'll let you know if you made the main guest list. If you're late to register, we'll get your name on our backup list and contact you if a spot opens on the main one.

We have some cool activities planned for you! You'll be able to play some games in our NVidia-powered GOG arcade. We've got lots of GOG goodies to give away. There'll be prizes to win in contests. Beer and soft drinks will be waiting at the bar for all of our guests! A big chunk of GOG.com Team is going to be there, and we look forward to meeting you all in person. If you know you'll be attending, please also drop a note here in the forums below, so all other Goggers will know they'll get to hang out with you! Also, feel free to make suggestions as to what would you like to see in the GOG.com Party.

This invitation will be updated with new details as we get closer to GamesCom, so make sure to drop by every now and then! Bottom line: party with GOG.com at GamesCom, Thursday, August 14, 5:00PM-10:00PM. Great fun, free beer, GOG goodies for our guests. 70 open spots, reserve yours at party@gog.com.

G-Doc: Very soon is the answer :-) By the end of this month.

tfishell: Excellent! Just to be clear, we are talking about the original game, right? (Not Cascadia's remake?)

I hope the GOG staff got a chance to talk to various publishers at Gamescom!
Yes to both! :-D

Blackbot: Piranjade: If you know somebody who already owns BlazBlue, try out his/her version first. I grabbed it with the free code and it just won't launch - which seems to be a problem with both the GoG and the Steam version of the game, unfortunately. Though it seems to work without issues for a lot of folks out there, so maybe I just had bad luck ;)
I bought it and it worked right away for me. I only needed X360CE to get my controller to work. :-)
Everyone, thank you so much for an amazing party! I had such a good time chatting with you, enjoying pizza and beer, and playing dice poker and Mäxle with the dice you provided. :) I also remember playing Crawl (I was really drunk at that point XD) and hope it will be released soon. :D

And thank you so much for the awesome goodie bag. I'm so happy that you gave me a women's (as)s shirt. :>

By the way, I had to enter the men's bathroom to witness the beautiful Playboy collage. I hope we get something like that next year as well (there will be a party next year, right, riiiight?). ;)

This party was definitely my highlight of this year's gamescom! <3
So...when can the less-fortunate GOGers expect to see a photo-story from the party?

G-Doc: I will make a separate post to express my feelings properly as soon as we get all the pictures and video footage to go with it.
;)

ShadowOwl: ;)
Haven't took the effort to read event some last posts. Lazy me. So it is coming. Thx :-D
Great party, great people, great team!
Thank you very much, GOG!

Especially Crawl was really interesting and definitely is on my wishlist.

Piranjade: Hmmm... Pogopuschel decided to buy it for the PS3 on our way back from the party yesterday.
Yeah, she really liked that game!
I personally just spent the gift code on it ;-)

tama-chan: the beautiful Playboy collage
Yup, I noticed Triss^^

On another note:
Did everyone receive a Witcher VIP ticket for their Gamescom booth? Because I didn't (Croxxx and some others I met all did) and unfortunately even the GOG-Galaxy-shirt didn't prevent me from being rejected in joining them on Friday.

Got a VIP pass but gave it to another (so he could give it to a friend) since I wasn't attending GamesCom at all.

On yet another note:
Did everyone receive a T-Shirt? And no, I wouldn't dare to complain since it was a great event and we got so much free stuff anyway. :)

Thank you very much, GOG!
I have to agree:
Awesome evening. Nice people.
Thank you GOG for this very cool event!

I'm still unsure what game to use the coupon for but I really like BlazBlue now.
Unfortunately, my internet is so bad ATM it would take me about a week to download :/
Well, hope that coupon doesn't expire in the near future :D

If there's something similar next year, I will be there for sure! (if GOG lets me^^)

Regards,
croxxx

Mine expires sometime in December - you can check the exact date if you enter the code in the redemption page without actually redeeming it.

Excellent; hopefully this leads to some really cool, classic releases in the coming months. We haven't seen a new release from so many "big name" publishers here (Activision, Ubisoft, etc.) in so long I can't help but be worried.

I tweeted Cascadia and Apogee to thank them for the upcoming Wacky Wheels release ... but evidently they had no idea about it. Whoops. (I assume it's actually coming a la 3D Realms...)
I have to say the same as the other users: Thank You, GOG!
I'm happy i made the trip to Cologne just for the party. It was totally worth being 22 hours awake and travelling 800 km in total.
I met a lot of nice people, the pizza was great, the Kölsch....well...(beer would have been better ;D)
I mainly played Crawl the whole evening and it was soo much fun...
The BlazBlue Calamity Trigger tournament was fun, i was lucky to win (it was basically a button-mashing-which-caracter-beats-another-rock-paper-scissor-lizard-Spock-tournament, i think no one played the game before this evening) and the price just blew me away...i would have ecpected some Shirt, free game or something like that and Woiczek (?) handed me a bloody Original package of "I have no mouth and i must scream"...sealed!
Totally amazing and i hope you make that kind of party again next year! I will be there!
Don't worry if you didn't get a VIP pass for Witcher 3. They were only "valid" until Friday morning anyway, or at least that's what we've been told. We went there at noon and one of the people at the stand told us that someone must have distributed the passes publicly, so they wouln't accept them anymore, because it's unfair to the other people that had to wait several hours to get in. They did however ask how we got the pass and I think they believed us when we said it was from the GOG party. We then offered to just go away if we get some merch. ;) And I was lucky and got a picture with Eve Beauregard who cosplayed Yennefer. :)

I think there were some goodie bags that contained different things than the rest. One guy in our group had a Witcher 3 lanyard in his and I got Witcher 3 decals, but my husband didn't.

Hi!

I would like to join in my thanks. The party was a highlight of the trip to Cologne and I really liked how you also spread PC stations all over the pub, so if usual awkward moments of brooding at bar didn't have a chance to happen :).

Atmosphere, GOG staff, selection of games, food, kölsch, presents, everything was great. I would have never played a game like Crawl, so it was ideal - especially for a party. It was enjoyable to try figuring out with my friends how the game works and eventually just waiting for the chance to take a control in hands again, lol. I have hard time imagine how single-player mode would work, though.

Thank you for the invitation.

By the way, thanks Judas for standing up for localisations so vehemently ;).

I used the VIP pass on Saturday evening and didn't have any problems. Just developers/presenters looked exhausted from all that presenting :D.
It was visibly inspired by Skyrim and Tomb Raider and I liked the visual and gameplay result. Impressive presentation and impressive demonstration how high a small Polish company has risen.

You're welcome but could I ask for the context? :D (Marketing was talking smack about me behind my back, eh? :P I see how they are :P Kidding, of course! :) )
