Join us in Cologne on Thursday, August 14!

GamesCom Cologne is the biggest European games industry show and we know that many of you will be attending. We'd love to take this chance to meet you! Alas, we think that the middle of a busy trade show is not the best place to hang out with you, dear Goggers. We'd like to meet you in a more friendly venue and spend some time chatting, sharing a few beers, and playing some games in a relaxed atmosphere of a gamer-friendly pub. So, we'd like to heartily invite you to the GOG.com Party that will be taking place on Thursday, August 14, from 5:00PM to 10:00PM local time, in one of the local pubs not far from where the GamesCom main show will be located.

We've got 70 open spots. To reserve yours, contact us at party@gog.com and give us your full name and the GOG.com username (or usernames, if you're bringing a friend) and the time we can expect your arrival. We'll ask you to RSVP before the event, to make sure you didn't change your mind about attending. We'll let you know if you made the main guest list. If you're late to register, we'll get your name on our backup list and contact you if a spot opens on the main one.

We have some cool activities planned for you! You'll be able to play some games in our NVidia-powered GOG arcade. We've got lots of GOG goodies to give away. There'll be prizes to win in contests. Beer and soft drinks will be waiting at the bar for all of our guests! A big chunk of GOG.com Team is going to be there, and we look forward to meeting you all in person. If you know you'll be attending, please also drop a note here in the forums below, so all other Goggers will know they'll get to hang out with you! Also, feel free to make suggestions as to what would you like to see in the GOG.com Party.

This invitation will be updated with new details as we get closer to GamesCom, so make sure to drop by every now and then! Bottom line: party with GOG.com at GamesCom, Thursday, August 14, 5:00PM-10:00PM. Great fun, free beer, GOG goodies for our guests. 70 open spots, reserve yours at party@gog.com.

Rinu: Impressive presentation and impressive demonstration how high a small Polish company has risen.
Did you see the PC presentation with the griffin or the one with the three "ladies"?

JudasIscariot: You're welcome but could I ask for the context? :D (Marketing was talking smack about me behind my back, eh? :P I see how they are :P Kidding, of course! :) )
Haha. There was a discussion about fan translation and a guy from GOG (sorry I didn't catch the name) who never writes on forums but is comportable doing presentation in the front of bunch of RL people pointed out you should be the receiver of brofist for having a wide selection of localization ;).

Ladies of woods/forest.
Ah, so the bags did not contain all the same stuff? Well, never mind - I am not here to complain, the party was great anyways!

Amatras: I met a lot of nice people, the pizza was great, the Kölsch....well...(beer would have been better ;D)
Well, I asked the waitress and got Tegernseer, so... real actual beer :D

BlazBlue btw definitely works on my PC, just for playing a controller/gamepad is really recommended.

No, for example, I received a collection of computer stickers and my friend a wrist band. I think it was a nice touch, to spice a content of bags a bit :).

Yes, and I am on it :D Pizzaaaaaaa!
Damn. I hate hearing myself on video! ;)

Will this video be put on the front page too?
Haha yay, I'm in it and I hate hearing myself, too.. :) Especially, since it's drunk me talking... ;)
Thankfully, I can't see myself in the video. :-P

I thought it was an interesting party, because I have never been to a pub party before.

Unfortunately, for that reason, I got rather overwhelmed, and decided to leave early.

What can I say; it was great as certainly something different from what I have experienced before, but not what I thought it would be. It was very hard for me to talk to anyone, and while I eventually got invited to a table with some German press representatives (sorry, I didn't catch the names over all the voices), and they were awesome, but it became clear they only talked to me because I was wearing a Star Citizen T-Shirt, and they thought I might be representing CIG - which I definitely do not (just another backer).
So then it became a bit awkward, especially since neither of us were native English speakers, and there were a lot of voices and noise in the pub, so it was a bit hard to make out what the other was saying. So my apologies if anything I said back there didn't make sense or seemed totally strange (for example he asked if I had played the game - I thought he meant if I had played a game being displayed on a screen behind me, but in retrospect based on his reaction when I said "no", he might have been talked about Arena Commander - -- Awkward....)
All the same, they were both open, welcoming and inclusive, and they were great company while I lasted, so kudos for that.

I also want to apologize to GOG folks and GOGers in general in the pub for not taking the initiative with talking to them. I'm not the type to speak unless spoken to, and I'm just generally very shy by nature, and definitely not used to these kinds of events, and I also barely speak a word German. But I feel like I learned something; this was my first time, and I would love to try this again in the future, with me taking a very different approach next time.

So just to be clear: me leaving early was not due to anyone's fault but my own, the atmosphere was great even though I didn't understand much of anything that was said, but I do hope for a second chance in the future were I will try to experiment a bit more, and try not to be so socially awkward.

So there's a first time for everything, and this time I failed. But I'm not about to give up for that reason.

In any case, GOG certainly deserves high praise for the party; it looked like everyone had a great time, and as I said, the atmosphere itself was remarkable and is what makes me want to come back. I can't change the past, but I can learn from it and hope to see you again next year in Cologne (or Australia in October, if you guys are going to Pax Aus). But wherever or whenever the next time, I promise myself, I will at least say hi.

Edit:
Wait... wait... No, I think I AM there, in the video. See 1.54, that guy to the left, behind the forefront guy. I got a strong incling that's the face that stares at back at me from the mirror every day. Either that or a clone. Or a lost twin. Or someone very similar.

So, who is who in the video?

Also, GOG, you have a pretty good idea as to the direction that gamers want ;) - http://www.gog.com/wishlist/games#order=votes_total
Sooooo... With the dates for gamescom 2015 set and all, are there any news about this year's GOG party?
