Join us in Cologne on Thursday, August 14!

GamesCom Cologne is the biggest European games industry show and we know that many of you will be attending. We'd love to take this chance to meet you! Alas, we think that the middle of a busy trade show is not the best place to hang out with you, dear Goggers. We'd like to meet you in a more friendly venue and spend some time chatting, sharing a few beers, and playing some games in a relaxed atmosphere of a gamer-friendly pub. So, we'd like to heartily invite you to the GOG.com Party that will be taking place on Thursday, August 14, from 5:00PM to 10:00PM local time, in one of the local pubs not far from where the GamesCom main show will be located.

We've got 70 open spots. To reserve yours, contact us at party@gog.com and give us your full name and the GOG.com username (or usernames, if you're bringing a friend) and the time we can expect your arrival. We'll ask you to RSVP before the event, to make sure you didn't change your mind about attending. We'll let you know if you made the main guest list. If you're late to register, we'll get your name on our backup list and contact you if a spot opens on the main one.

We have some cool activities planned for you! You'll be able to play some games in our NVidia-powered GOG arcade. We've got lots of GOG goodies to give away. There'll be prizes to win in contests. Beer and soft drinks will be waiting at the bar for all of our guests! A big chunk of GOG.com Team is going to be there, and we look forward to meeting you all in person. If you know you'll be attending, please also drop a note here in the forums below, so all other Goggers will know they'll get to hang out with you! Also, feel free to make suggestions as to what would you like to see in the GOG.com Party.

This invitation will be updated with new details as we get closer to GamesCom, so make sure to drop by every now and then! Bottom line: party with GOG.com at GamesCom, Thursday, August 14, 5:00PM-10:00PM. Great fun, free beer, GOG goodies for our guests. 70 open spots, reserve yours at party@gog.com.

On the contrary! We'll be playing some classic PC games. :-) I'm doing my best to procure some old-school PC controllers to go with them.
Aw I will be at GC on Saturday (July 16) :C
Well as long as you do not go home right after the party... I will definitivly take a look at your booth. ;-)
Wait ! isn't gamescon a DRM-proponent lair ? and a F2P-whalers harbor ?
Just asking, it's great of you all to be there, but keep a close watch on your booze nonetheless.

Good luck, hope it goes well!

Crosmando: Ew, who would want to go to a party, there's like... other people there. I'll just play computer games thanks.

Erich_Zann: Seconded, even if you were joking.

What terrifies me in this announcement is that 70 people (+ GOG staff) is called a "relaxed" atmosphere.
From my perspective that's almost a whole concert audience, bands included. I guess I'm just not a social person.
And now imagine they will take photos of you and put them on the internet for everyone to see, possibly even with your username below them - and on their Facebook page! ;)

AlbertX: I did understand that part, but since that day is only for the press, there was no point for me to go there that day. So I will be arriving at Cologne on the 15th :(

Going Gamescon has always been something I wanted to do, seems I choose the worst year to do it :(

Malek86: Isn't press day the 13th? The website says the 14th is open to the public. I was planning to go on that day myself, since the 15th is a holiday, and saturday and sunday are probably gonna be full of people.

I'm still not sure I'm going though, and even if I do, I would be going with a friend who doesn't even know about GOG. I don't know if I can convince him :P
You sir are absolutely right, my bad. Anyway I can't go before that, I am going with a friend and he is working but since he got the 15th free the only possible day to go was the 16th :(

Yeah I know people say is horrible on saturday because of the amount of people, well I gue I have no alternative but the make the most out of it.

I am not sure I want to play anything there actually I just wanted to go and see how is a Videogame fair like that.
I'm trying something new this year. I think it is called "being social". Whatever that means.

So, I'll be going to Gamescom to rub shoulders with geeks, see some games, and shake some hands, and would love to join the party! I sent over my hopeful RSVP, and keep my fingers crossed for a reply. :-D
If it was in Poland, I'd be probably come (not primarily for the party but because I miss the cheap and great food).

Train to Cologne costs more than a flight to Poland, thanks to the very creative prices of the Swiss Federal Railways and the Deutsche Bahn.

N0rdW1nd: I would like to visit you. But this year the GC is just a scam.

amcdermo: How so? I've checked the website and it doesn't seem bad. Not like Sci-Fi conventions where you have to pay through the nose to meet the actors and get signatures.
The problem is simple.
I paid the last years since the Gamescom opened their doors in Cologne 35€ for the complete GC running time, you were able to come and go when you feel like. You had the choice to come back later at the noon or spend some time in cologne or where ever you want.
This year you have to pay 15€ every day and the ticket loses the validity at entering the halls. Means you have one ticket every day without the choice to come back later.
For casuals looks this not that bad, but for me as a die hard gaming fan who wants to rent a hotelroom it's just a scam.
The Hotels there have some extremly fees too at the Mess-Weekends. 100%-150% More bucks for a night to stay in the dirtiest hotel.

One Weekend Fri-Sun costs about 250-350€ with Trainticket and the cheapest and dirtiest hotel.(if you're lucky enough to find a room)

Sure thing the Hotels don't have anything to do with the Gamescom itself i know it but the weekend itself is expensive enough and then you have to pay more for the tickets so i decided not go there anymore...

Although I'll have surgery tomorrow and it's not really possible to say what will follow after that, I decided to apply for a spot at the party. Positive thinking!

I hope to see many of you there! :-D

I hope it's nth too serious, and everything goes well and you have a swift recovery - fingers crossed!
If I could afford it I would totally come.

That's why if you attend naked, you are guaranteed to get good "exposure" and it really helps with the "relaxed atmosphere."

Sending my RSVP now... (I just need to set up a Kickstarter to get the airfares and accommodation paid for and I'm sure my nudity will pay for the rest)
I am sooooo sad that I won't be in Germany at that time. Really love GOG. :]
