Hey guys. I am getting a new 2560x1440p, 165 hz, 27 inch, 1 ms monitor. I am so excited for it.

Is it fair to say that at this point, 1080p gaming is basically dead?

I mean, i am way behind the curve, but even i am moving on from 1080p.

I think that at this point we (both as a society and as gamers) need to start moving on from 1080p because it has pretty much become obsolete

I don't mean to offend anyone that's still on 1080p but i consider that resolution pretty much dead.

Not at all.

Most people still play 1080p, most people don't even own 4k TVs or monitors. Heck, most games don't even run that smooth at 4K. 1080p isn't dead by any means.

Congrats on becoming one of the 7.8% of gamers who use a 1440p monitor. I'm pretty sure PC gaming isn't "dead" though for the overwhelming 85.5% majority of the population who continue to use 1920x1200 or lower...

No, that would just be the usual mindless childish trolling.

Edit: What's wrong with you? I mean seriously? It takes literally a 5 second search in any Search Engine to show 3 out of 4 PC gamers use 1080p. Someone's even given you a link above. Here's the "obsolete-ness of 1080p that's dead and no-one uses today" in picture form if you need it:-

It's almost as bad as your bi-polar stuff:-

"Hey guys ! Mine is getting bigger than yours, and BG2 is the best game in the world, trolololo !!!"
My laptop easily does 1900 w/ full eye candy on most games, but my ancient eyes still appreciate 1080 (sometimes even 800). Not all eyeballs are 20/20, and not all games scale up well. 1080 is here to stay, except, probably for new AAA titles.

Ever tried to play a game that has no UI scaling from your couch? Then you'd know even 720p is alive sometimes.

There's nothing like 8k Master of Magic...

Ex-Geralt, please cut it, it's getting silly.

This!
Well, trying to use touchscreen on a high resolution/small screen is a pain.

For me, even 1280x1024 isn't dead...

Obsolete? Are you out of your mind or is this yet another troll post?

Most people are playing on 1080p, but sure, consider it dead.
